Hello!

Besides from the modding feature, are there any major differences between beta v2.5.03B, and the released version? Is there an official list somewhere with the features/changes being tested between them? There are some links under "More New Features" - is that it?

I guess it's not possible to play beta versions with the current version's save games, right ? ( downloaded beta version too and only tried copy/paste save directories and it didnt work :p )

New Versions after Capitalism Lab Release

After the official release of Capitalism Lab, we may continue to improve the game and release new versions, provided that the game has generated decent sales and we have sufficient resources.

As you know, any new versions with new features or modifications are likely to contain bugs and use a different save game format than previous versions. So in order not to impact the official release, we will only make the new versions available to users who are willing to test the new features/modifications and do not mind having bugs, crashes or incompatible save game format.

Such new versions will be made available under the title “Capitalism Lab Beta”, whereas the release version will be titled “Capitalism Lab”. They will have separate installers and install into different program folders (“Capitalism Lab” for the release version and “Capitalism Lab Beta” for the new versions.)

In other words, you can install both versions in your computer and choose “Capitalism Lab” to run if you want the stable, release version. And you may also run “Capitalism Lab Beta” if you want to test out the new improvements. They will save games into different folders as well, so as to ensure that the save games of the release version will not be affected by any changes in save game format by newer versions.

Game Application Icons
To run the Capitalism Lab Post-release Beta version, please click on the Capitalism Lab Post-release Beta app icon instead of the Capitalism Lab Release app icon on your desktop. (Your desktop should have both icons.)

Save Game Folder
For the release version:
In your My Documents folder, you can find "My Games" folder and "Capitalism Lab" subfolder, under it, you can find your Cap Lab save game files there.

Both versions will co-exist, meaning that you could continue to play the stable release version after installing this post-release beta version.

And please note that you could only play either the release version or the beta version at any one time. (You cannot run both versions concurrently in your computer.)

For the post-release beta version:
In your My Documents folder, you can find "My Games" folder and "Capitalism Lab Post-Release Beta" subfolder, under it, you can find your Cap Lab save game files there.

Updating the release versions
When a beta version has accumulated sufficient improvements and is proven stable with weeks of testing, we may migrate it to the Release version.
