New features after release

Post by David »

With the 1.98 update, we have gotten closer to the release. In other words, version 1.98 is very close to being a release candidate.

As discussed on the Marketing Suggestions forum (http://www.capitalismlab.com/forum/view ... f=15&t=823), we may experiment with the idea of letting users vote for the new feature they like to see the most after the release and we may implement it if we have the resources.

Whether we could successfully receive the resources we need to implement the new features depends on your help to promote the game - may see the Marketing Suggestions forum for more details on this http://www.capitalismlab.com/forum/view ... f=15&t=823. For instance, if the sale of Cap Lab reached 10,000 copies (assuming selling at the full price of $19.99 at Enlight's own web store where we receive 90% of the paid price, the target sale quantity will need to be higher if the price is discounted or selling on third-party sites), we will be in a position to recoup most of our original development cost of Cap Lab and thus allow us to invest into developing new features.

After the first new feature, we will set the next sale milestone for the second new feature. The milestone setting will depend on the cost of developing the first new feature. If it is more expensive, the milestone target will be higher (e.g. 2nd milestone = 12,000 copies sold in total). Conversely, if it is less expensive, the milestone target will be lower (e.g. 2nd milestone = 10,500 copies sold in total).

You may contribute by recommending CapLab to your friends, writing reviews for it on game sites. Slowly, your contribution will help CapLab achieve the sale milestone, which will in turn make the implementation of new features possible.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

We will periodically update this post to give an idea about how close we are to the milestone target (e.g. less than 10% of the milestone, reached 10% of the milestone, reached 20% of the milestone and etc)

Cap Lab sale update as of end of Nov 2012: we have sold close to 900 units of pre-orders of Cap Lab (less than 10% of the milestone.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------

So here it goes the first poll on this.

It is the first attempt on such efforts. So any suggestions are welcome.

Some tough choices, as there are two I really like there

Although I would like the Scenario editor to be added (Since I suggested it in the first place), I think other aspects need to be improved first before something like this is added

My vote would go for improving the COO/CMO/CFO/etc options, but if I can suggest, another feature I would like worked on is duplicable/linked firms so that one firm can either be copied/duplicated and if they are linked, if the orders in one is changes, the others are changed too. As per this thread http://www.capitalismlab.com/forum/view ... f=14&t=658 or this thread http://www.capitalismlab.com/forum/view ... f=14&t=780

I really like the first 5 options in the poll. In my opinion, every one of these can improve the gameplay, i just don't digg the dynasty or mayor options enough. But hey - they can be fun to explore, i gotta admit that.

I would love to see all features implemented. It would drastically increase the game's replay value.

If all of them were added it would make the game even better. Also maybe adding a option to addon or build bigger facilities so you can have more products in a single building.

Frankly, this will be a long process as it takes time for word of mouth to spread. (And your help may make it happen a little bit faster.) You may periodically visit this forum and get an update on the progress we are making in terms of the sale milestones and new features. Over time, hopefully you will see the new feature you like eventually get implemented in a new version.

I think all these ideas are good and should be added. People are also wanting to add the underground side to the game. There should be corporate espionage in the game, it would increase the overall realism and experience of the game.

I did not vote for the first option, because I don't want a "full editor", I'd just be happy with the ability to select cities at the beggining of the game...

I do not see a handy link to the following topic, and my search failed. If there is a better thread for discussion please tell me.
"Allow the player to be the CEO of more than one company, running multiple companies at the same time. There will be a simple interface for switching which company to control."
I am highlighting this subject because it is winning in the poll.

Can't we pretty much already do this when we get 75% of a competitors stock?

I don't understand the choice at all, because were are always running a corporation that is able to start companies in any industry, why do we need another one? To me, each firm is a company; I'm I'm running dozens of companies every game. Also, we already have different branding strategies that "sort of" make us look like multiple companies to the consumer. I am wary of having another source of stock because of exploits related to the stock markets ability to out produce the revenue of typical firms.

Thanks.
