It is still work in progress and more details will be unveiled as the development takes shape further.

I don't quite understand how software works over time yet.

The link above doesn't work anymore, but looking at the current pages (http://www.capitalismlab.com/software-companies.html)... It seems like you "research" a software product, and then build it. All that makes sense.

But in the example on the website for "Mega 3D Studio", once the team finishes developing "Mega 3D Studio," do they automatically keeping working on it to incrementally improve it, and the factory making the DVD's of it gradually have an improved software? Alternatively, when the team is done "Mega 3D Studio," do they start on a new separate software, or a sequel "Mega 3D Studio 2"? It seems like the latter is more realistic, but more micomanaging.

Also, it seems like the sale of software should be somehow tied to dates. So if my "Sky OS" was released 10 years ago, it shouldn't set at all anymore. Is that right?

The link has been fixed.

Yes, we have added two new buttons on the interface, called [New Version] and [Auto]. (See the attached screenshot.)

[New version]
Start a project for developing a new version of the software product that was previously completed here.

[Auto] - Automatically develop new versions
If this is enabled, it will automatically develop next versions of the software when more advanced tech has been researched.

Alternatively, when the team is done "Mega 3D Studio," do they start on a new separate software, or a sequel "Mega 3D Studio 2"? It seems like the latter is more realistic, but more micomanaging.
Yes, it will make a sequel called "Mega 3D Studio 2". The micromanagement is not required as you can use the aforementioned [Auto] button.

Also, it seems like the sale of software should be somehow tied to dates. So if my "Sky OS" was released 10 years ago, it shouldn't set at all anymore. Is that right?
Right. You can choose the operating system which you want to develop your software for.
