The new version 10.0.08 improved the interface for negotiating with executives asking for salary raises. Now you can offer less salaries than the requested amounts and your executives may continue to work for you if their attitudes towards you are good enough.

This looks a lot better now, it looks like I might need to pay attention to the CEO's attitude towards me now!
Negotiations for the salary are also pretty good as well. Basically if the profits go up enough they ask for a raise:
If you say Yes their attitude goes up.
If you say no they will either resign or say 'I am disappointed in you' (attitude decrease). If they resign you can counter-offer to get them to stay.
Some things I noted while testing:
If you agree to a salary bump without negotiation, it does not display the attitude improvement. It should do this to show if it is better to accept a raise request without a counter-offer (I think a counter offer does not improvement the attitude but a raise with no counter-offer does, which makes sense as they get more money and less stress if they don't need to negotiate).
Also - it does not appear as though a counter-offer above their requested amount improves anything. It should - I would be happy if I was given more than I asked for. I also think there should be an option to cut their salary at the HQ (if you do of course it should affect attitude and probably provoke a resignation):

Wait a second, there's a bug.
Make a counteroffer - they accept: But their salary doesn't go up.
Attached savegame: Run it for a while and they'll ask for money. Make a counter offer and it doesn't actually increase their salary:

In version 10.0.09, your executives may voluntarily reduce their salaries if their attitudes towards you is good.

I noted when my CEO chose to reduce her pay, her attitude towards me dropped, even though i hadnt asked her to reduce pay. (and couldnt decline the offer)

I have noticed that if I refuse a raise for my CEO they don't always resign but sometimes they are disappointed in me. But there appears to be no attitude consequences:
Here is a savegame of this. Run it at high speed and my Real Estate CEO will ask for a raise, refuse her and she will have no attitude decrease.

Also, the counteroffer bug is resolved now as well (i.e it actually sets their salary to that amount now).
