I had stocks in a company that got merged with a private corporation. I now own shares in the private corporation but cannot withdraw my money or sell the shares. Is there something that I am missing or is this a bug?
just to get it right ... a public traded company and a private company merged... and the public trading company was the junior partner in the merge and now you own shares of a private company?
if thats the case, had that as well a few times, its possible due to friendly merger activated. nothing is lost you own shares in a private company but those shares can not be traded on the market currently, there 2 outcomes, the company stays private then your only chance for recouperation is if the company makes good profit and pays dividends, or the company will go for an IPO 1 day then it can be a good deal if the stock is over valuated at IPO, but after they are public traded .
