Predefined companies

Post by JFB »

Predefined companies in script file, which allow to start game with real companies with real expertises.

Example:

[COMPANY DETAILS]
Name = Coca Cola
Logo = 11 // LogoID
Chairman = 42 // PersonID
Product Expertise = Beverage

[TECHNOLOGIES]
Cola = 100 // Starting R&D level

I agree with this suggestion, but perhaps adjust it slightly to work within the current framework.

In the Mod files we can adjust the company names there and their logo. Perhaps add a column to set product expertise. Then when the game is generated whoever is assigned as the CEO of that company automatically is assigned that expertise.

The script could be used to set specific companies you want to use in game play.

I support this idea.
It would be great to have real world companies with expertise in their own product segment.
Later in the game, of course, they could change it (for example amazon might become proucing company in addition to retail), but this would be in-game decision, not their starting condition.

I've always wanted to be able to do this. I'd also like to be able to set the start year. For instance if I want to compete against Apple then it shouldn't enter competition until the 1980s. that way you have a game where new players with different expertise and levels enter the game at various times.

Great suggestion! Especially when playing with mods and real names it is somehow funny when Coca Cola produces electronic devices and Samsung bottled milk :D

I think there would be several possibilities to predefine the company's future. The suggested one ist goog, but there also would be other ways, e.g. to give the companies advantages in a product class and to release them from the dependency of a random CEO with random expertice.

Take also a look at my suggestion about product cusomization: http://www.capitalismlab.com/forum/view ... =37&t=3418
Binding also the look of products to companies we could have Coca Cola producing Coke and Pepsi producing Pepsi...

This all should be an option, as the random way like it is now also is a nice chalange.

This to me is another no brainer addition that should be included in the game.

I am trying to compete in the car market, and it's so frustrating when BMW is producing Snacks.
(using RealWorld mod).
