The Electric Car will be available as a new product type in the next major version 11.0 of Capitalism Lab.
The Electric Car can only be invented after 2005. Its development is a complex, multi-year process, but the payoff is significant. It has the potential to capture up to 50% of the private car market.

Re: Electric Cars in the next major version 10.1
Thank you David, great to see this come to fruition.
Are you sticking to lithium only for now, or will there be further tech trees in the future?
edit: will lithium have other uses such as phone batteries?

The dev team didn't include lithium in other products besides electric cars. If you have any ideas, you can definitely suggest them.13thscholar wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 11:13 am Thank you David, great to see this come to fruition.

The idea of using lithium for phone batteries seems like a good one. The main concern in my opinion is whether they would be players against it as it will complicate the manufacturing processes for a number of products which should use also lithium batteries including tablet computers, notebook computers, camcorders and etc.
Perhaps you could set up a poll to get the community's opinions on this.
And the lithium batteries for phones and other portal devices should be a separate, much smaller lithium battery than the giant electric car battery.

Re: Electric Cars in the next major version 10.1
This looks good, I like this idea.
I suppose one issue is that Lithium is only used for one product and that product is only available after 2005. It does mean that the Lithium mines would be pretty much useless for anything outside of that industry (except exports). Though the Lithium Battery idea would complicate other products (only 3 items can be used as inputs so something else would be squeezed out for Notebooks, Tablets, etc).
