A more dynamic layout beyond the 3x3

Post by Rusty Gamer »

I don't know how hard it would be to program this as the basic 3x3 layout inside a building is probably hard-coded into the game.

However, what I would like to see is new layout design based on the actual size and shape of the building. So a bigger building might have a 4x4 and a smaller one a 2x2. In addition layout could reflect whatever the building shape is. For instance, you might build a long slim building which might be a 1x4 layout or some such. You might want to create a very small store; A 1x2 layout would have to be the minimum allowing for one purchase and sale.

If this could be implemented, I believe it would create a whole new dynamic and challenge to the game.

It is already possible to modify buildings to have different width/lengths in a mod, although obviously that is coded into the mod itself and requires the modder to have the right graphics. It is quite possible to have two identical stores that are simply copies with different sizes/capacities/costs. I don't know of any mods with this feature but it can be done.

Having it as a dynamic feature would be an issue as you would need additional graphics for buildings of different shapes and sizes but it is an interesting idea, sometimes I just want a smaller shop that takes up less room.
