I seem to be having an issue with demand for cigarettes and cigars, it is non-existent even if I set the selling price to 0.01.

On a sidenote, as a long time player of Capitalism II and now Lab, I want to thank you for fixing the issues in what was originally a great game and making it better. Well done and keep up the good work.

Re: Tobacco Bug
Actually, for the entire Capitalism series, the demand for cigarettes and cigars always continue to drop since the game begins. This is to reflect the fact that smoking is hazardous to health and thus declining sales of cigarettes and cigars.

It's actually not about the trends of sales and is not up-to-date (2004/2009), but may be interesting to the topic:

Re: Tobacco Bug
If this is the case, then tobacco should be removed from the game altogether. Not everyone shares the opinion that tobacco is a dying market. There are mutual funds that bank on it as being "recession proof". And it's impossible to read the designer's mind.David wrote:Actually, for the entire Capitalism series, the demand for cigarettes and cigars always continue to drop since the game begins. The player first has to guess that the designer is injecting random bits of real-world into a game-world. Then they have to guess the opinion of the designer regarding real-word situations instead of dealing with the game world. It's arbitrary and esoteric and it will trip up the player unless they guess the hidden riddle correctly.

Re: Tobacco Bug
Absolutely true, if the demand for cigarettes declines it should be somehow shown to the player. Maybe introduce a new statistic that shows the percentage of smokers for every city.Caplabusername wrote:If this is the case, then tobacco should be removed from the game altogether.
