Capitalism Lab For mac will also be released?

Post by Solklint »

Hi!
I recently saw that you released capitalism 2 for the mac via deliver2mac and gamersgate.com. Great i bought it the first day because this game is truly great!
Since you managed to release it on mac i was wondering if you will be releasing Capitalism Lab for mac in the near future? I really hope you do because caplab adds so much more macroeconomics which actually make the game more realistic.

2nd question: Will you make capitalism 2 (mac) on deliver2mac and gamersgate.com multiplayer working for mac? Please do aswell.

I would really like an honest reply please ;).

Best regards and keep up the good work!

Does anyone have information about my question above, know there are loads of people wanting to play caplab on mac and just waiting on a release. More and more poeple are using macs especially students. There are a lack of economy games for mac and caplab is by far the most educational and realistic game for it. Just release it and i bet you will sell good.

Since *RELEASE* on Dec 14, which I count as the biggest event in a software product lifecycle, this forum has seen 400, maybe 500, new members, (I have admittedly forgotten since I quit caring). I presume that's very close to the number of sales. I do specifically recall there were less than 100 new members the first month. Very depressing.

500 sales * $20 = $10,000
* 12/6.5 mos = $18,460 annually.

$18k per year revenue? Not feasible. Can knock off 30% for taxes. Only a kid in the basement could possibly have covered the costs let alone profit at all. And at least the amount of on-going development was far better than the industry leaders would have provided. This is poverty level even for a single individual's only income with legitimate IT expenses. As for as Enlight's actual corporate situation, I will not speculate. In light with not speculating, I'll try not to retro-speculate how things could have gone differently, either. I'm not here to piss on the grave.

Have fun, dude, but not with CapLab for mac! :D

We noted that the majority of people who bought the game did not register on this forum. This may be normal as I also rarely registered on forums of other games I bought. So I the number of new forum members may not be a very good indicator of the actual sales of the game.

You may want to know that we have been exploring different ways to increase the game's awareness (awareness affects sales) and there are a few promising venues that we are going to further evaluate.

Do you actually believe that 500 sales is a correct number if it was rereleased on iphone and mac software... i can see a vaster demand then that for a game as caplab. I bet your way to pessimistic. Capitalism 2 was just released on mac a couple of months ago through deliver2mac, they saw possibilities there why not aswell on caplab?

There isnt a single other game that can compete with caplab today in this genre.

Yes, it always has been the best of it's kind with that kind being management of the supply chain from resources to retail. I didn't imply otherwise. I've stated as much repeatedly.

There has not been any peep for quite some time. The members, here, generally assume it died. http://www.capitalismlab.com/forum/view ... 6824#p6824 Yes, our imaginations start going.

Welcome back, David. Been about 10 weeks, eh? Well, the point wasn't sales of course; The point was it's apparently dead. At least we managed to get an answer for Solklint. You did get your answers, right?

Thanks for posting Solklint, you have completed the resurrection.

I think making games is not their unique and sole activity, and then it's sort of "on/off" time. Hence the 10 weeks hibernation (or, better, Springation !).

Anyway, is there a point in improving the game anymore ? It has reached a sort of ending, hasn't it ?
Now, the next feature is capitalism 3, if there is to be something else.

Thats why a mac release would be perfect at this time. Mac users needs games like this as a choice.

A game like this doesnt deserve to vanish.

Capitalism 3 is also a good idea but please dont ruin the graphics like tropico 4. The old cap2 overview is by far the best :).

We currently do not have a plan to port Capitalism Lab to Mac and it will remain PC-centric in the foreseeable future.
