Yes, I changed to my current computer in 2017 but this game ran smoothly at that time. Indeed I updated my GPU and windows drivers for several times so I cannot say this issue arises from the game itself only, it may also be a GPU/OS compatibility issue, but I have not experienced the same issue in other games. For Capitalism Lab, this issue exists in both full screen and windowed mode.

According to my GPU usage situation in task manager as attached in #7, I think the nature of mouse lag issue is high GPU usage. My GTX1060 cannot support a smooth running of the game (obviously it is weird) and that is why I feel my mouse lag. Therefore, I guess it is a compatibility issue under certain new OS/driver version.

For your information, Capitalism Lab actually does not use GPU. It only uses CPU as it is a 2D game.

Any chances that your GPU utility wrongly identifies it as another game and uses a wrong app profile for it, thus causing the slowdown?

You may also try the following solutions:

SOLUTION 1:
1) Right-click on the Capitalism Lab icon to open the properties window.
2) Select the “Compatibilities” tab and enable the Windows XP compatibility option.
3) Enable the option "Run this program as an administrator."
4) Click “Change high DPI settings” and then enable the option "Override high DPI scaling behavior."
5) Enable the option “Run in 640x480 screen resolution”
6) Run the game.

Once in the main menu of the game, you can then select any resolution that is available (either full screen or windowed) as the game is actually not limited by the 640x480 setting.

SOLUTION 2:
1) Right-click on the Capitalism Lab icon to open the properties window.
2) Select the “Compatibilities” tab and enable the Windows XP compatibility option.
3) Enable the option "Run this program as an administrator."
4) Click “Change high DPI settings” and then enable the option "Override high DPI scaling behavior."
5) Enable the option "Reduced color mode" and select “16 bit color”
6) Run the game.

Thanks David,

Followed your instruction, the mouse issue solved. But it is so strange if I un-do these settings, the issue does not appear anymore like it never happened. Anyway, the game is playable now.

However, GPU issue still exists:
1. If I do not open any window in the game and let it run normally, GPU usage is around 35% (still higher than what it should be);
2. If I open a window like a factory layout window, it reach above 70% (something strange);
3. Once I open the option menu, it tops above 95% (crazy).

Besides, sometimes the game freezes when I close it and exit to desktop, not sure if it has something to do with above GPU issue. But it seems like a new issue since mouse lag issue is fixed.

Just to report this phenomenon, not sure whether it is my personal problem.
