This is very very promising !

I hope we will be able to choose the size of the game (number of cities and competitors).

That's right. In the new version, you will be able to start a new game with up to 7 cities and 30 AI companies. This has been implemented already.

Great! 30 AI sounds like a real challenge to the game!
Ive always thought that the game lacked competition. Sure there's "local" competition, but you cant really see it, and it gets boring when all the AI have decided to focus on completly different areas to you, allowing complete domination of several markets

Another design possibility is that player could choose the focus areas of AI companies at the beginning and optionally let them be random. The corps that begin operation later in the game could be either random or fall in one focus area (all to the same) which was picked by player at the beginning or something. I suggest that. It's especially compelling to suggest the 'or something', it's so very easy to come up with.

Again I really like the sound of this 7 cities and 30 companys. The more the better as in the real world, theres never enough companys or competition.

I think you could resolve the issue of colours by making say 14 companys maybe 2 in each city been market leaders. Ie in the UK could have like a Virigin company which has the main market share in certain industrys that its involved in but dosent get too involved in business's outside of its main interest. And say Jaguar or rolls royce sort of company which has a majority share in its main interest.
And the same in the US and whatever other countrys and cities that have such large corps.

You could then have companys like BP or other specific world leaders which have specific market shares across the world but again don't have very much interest outside of there industry but can research heavly within there own fields. Maybe 6 such businesses across the world that are very hard to displace which then could leave 10 pure corps that really have to work hard to displace these companys and may ultamately be unbeatable. Plus these companys outside of the 10 pure corps then can buy shares in your company but not to a majority share in the 10 pure corps. Again pros and cons with inblance and possibilitys to rebalance. I'm personally not to worried about the size of maps aslong as you can make some form of impact on the city. With so many companys you could always use the stockmarket to buy yourself into a city if it was so full. In fact I've found in Cap 2 that when I become the dominant force you had too much space on the map, and the computer regardless of how many times it tried to re-establish itself always failed due to the very high tech values and the purchasing and selling power of my own corp. I remember in cap 1 or cap plus that new citys came online and other citys would close.

My own thoughts are that you would have local powers mixed with world powers which you can invest in and take on aswell as the corps that are after the same as you. This would always make for an interesting game regardless of the size of your own corp, you would always have compertion.
