Hello,

I've watched some older YouTube-videos (like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrp2ZodIhtE) where people are making big profit via stock market. Like you don't need to produce/sell any items to gain money, you just gain money via stock market.

Is it still viable to gain relatively easy cash via stock market, in the newest version 10.0? I am thinking of turning stock market off in the settings if you can "exploit" stock market for easy money because it would feel too easy then.

I also read this article (https://www.capitalismlab.com/amp-up-challenge/) where it's suggested to turn off the stock market for greater challenge. So I am assuming you still can gain easy money via stock market but just wanting to be sure how it is nowadays.

I am also thinking are there any other possible exploits you can do in Capitalism Lab, and if so, can you somehow prevent them?

I assure you that it is not so easy to make money in the stock market, you can even make money that way, normally as it is in reality, if the company makes a profit, the demand for its shares will be greater, consequently its market cap increases, aiming at the P/B...

My understanding is that older versions of the game had mechanisms to exploit the stock market such as being able to artificially pump up the price of your own (or subsidiaries) stock and then selling it. It was also possible to take advantage of the boom-bust cycle to buy stocks cheaply and then sell them when the economy does better.

Later versions of the game have fixed these or created options to stop it such as Alternate Stock Sim.

It is still possible to make money of course by buying cheap stocks at the start of the game and waiting for the companies to be become more valuable, but I don't think you can make that much more money than what you would normally get by just running a normal business.
