Make companies specialize in their specific sector.
e.g. a software company doesn't expand into food retail.

This will bring more realism to the game.

A company's goal should not be complete domination of all product categories.

I would recommend that you create a poll for your suggestion to gauge the community's interest in it. There would be a higher chance that the dev team will implement it if the interest level is high.

You could see some examples of the polls in the Suggestions forum at http://www.capitalism2.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=14

Is this suggestion for mods only or also for vanilla games?
Make them all specialize, but with an exception of conglomerates
In vanilla games, AI corporations whose strategy is Diverse are conglomerates.

This is already a feature to a large extent as companies won't go outside their initial industry unless they change their strategy. But I guess there could be a difficulty setting for the tendency of AIs to diversify to other industries.
