What happen when there is less than 1 share

I was doing a testing game, and happened to find an AI that has very low share to its own company when my stock price is very high. And it got me thinking what would happen when I merger the company and issuing share but AI can only get a fractional share? From I know, the game rounds up fractional number to integer. However, if it's less than 1, will it automatically be converted to minimum 1 share?
The test result is interesting. If the fraction is above than 0.50 share, it rounds up to 1, hence the AI gains the price difference. But if the fraction is less than 0.5 share, the AI gets nothing at all, it rounds down to 0. Speaking of a way to squeeze out your opponents using math
