Would it be possible to create an opponent that you will force only making a mining corporation? This way you do not have to think about all the mining and oil drilling. The opponent will off course make money on this operation by making sure to set the price right and never lose money on the different mines.

I don't think current AI would be able to successfully run B2B businesses, especially raw materials. They lack long term planning ability that require years to get a positive return. If you want a more resource rich game, just set more industrial product seaports in game setting. They are designed for this purpose.
