I can no longer play with the subsidiary pack. I believe update 15 or 14 started the issue.
Subsidiary companies with any substantial cash surplus, i.e. 500 million will spend all of it regularly on useless and silly technology.
All options for ceo are unchecked yet the company spends 90% of it's profits on technology. (this is a retail subsidiary mind you.)

I have seen the same issue.
Except I seen this with smaller subs that I want to develop.
One had 3-4 apartments. Gave them $100 mil and they just go and spend it on, like you said, useless tech instead of expanding the real estate.
Needs another option for "can make r&d purchases" in addition to expansion in r&d.

I have seen the same issue.
Also I've noted that I'll have everything unchecked as I don't want them to expand at all but instead they continue to build new factories to build semi products for the product classes I have them set to work in.
I typically like to follow a strategy where I set up all the factories and retailers for them and once everything is working well I transfer it all to the sub. I sort of spin off that portion of my company and then I can sell of my shares if I truly want to get out of the business.

Self bump.
Also should be noted:
1. I use pier marios MOD, and have another issue. When AI builds a factory trying to make plastic, they use a factory layout that includes products that they do not have tech for. i.e. mobile phone and printer.
2. AI ceo management and policy as mentioned above needs all around improvement.
a. I don't believe that when instructed to build real-estate, that the ai behaves appropriately
b. The option to CEO multiple companies would be a plus
c. The *allow ceo to invest and merge* option is one I'm especially interested in, and it doesn't appear to allow for aggressive ai stock investment.

This issue will be resolved in the next patch v3.0.16.
