COO selecting better products question

I don't recall the exact name since I'm not at my home computer, but in the COO management policies, there is a restriction on finding new products labeled something like, "Own firms or parent," which seems to only mean the COO can "go up" in the company structure to find new products.

Does this also allow products from subsidiaries of the given company, subsidiaries of subsidiaries, and/or "sibling" companies (other subsidiaries of the same parent)? If it doesn't, seems like we need the option for a COO to find new products anywhere in the company structure.

+1 I'm in the process of piecing together ceo coo policy options and sliders to send to the dev team. An option to purchase only from within owned companies definitely should be a priority.
