Better Batch Switching System

The batch switching system is a great feature, but if it could be fine tuned some more, I feel this would add a lot of benefit and reduce micromanagement for the player. What I want is the ability to batch change suppliers ONLY for factories that make a certain product. For example, let's say I'm making Toothpaste which needs chemical materials and plastic. I have other factories making toilet cleaner with the same inputs. I can't get enough chemical materials so I open a new mine which has a different quality of chemical materials than my current source. To make sure my toothpaste factories produce at the same quality, I want all of them to start using the new mine, but keep my toilet cleaner factories using the old mine. Unless there's something I don't know about, if I batch switch, all of my factories using the old mine will switch to the new mine, which pretty much renders the function useless as I have to manually switch out factories to the old mine.
In short, if the batch switch feature could be improved so that all factories producing a certain good change, but others don't, that would save me a lot of time and effort.

I don't know how hard it would be to implement this. It's probably not super easy, but I don't think it would be super hard either. Just code it so that all factories with the same output good have their batch input changed, but no others. Or they could look at sales and all factories with the same good for sale and the same inputs have that one input changed with batch.
This change would work wonders and be one of the best improvements to the game in quite a while.

but how you tell if you want all factories worldwide or just the factories in this city batched?
i understand that many do centralized production, which i dont like personally due to waste of a lot of profit towards freight costs.
so batch switching as you mentioned, to make all factories with same output to switch will mess up the whole production for someone who is producing decentralized. i am not using the batch switching at all, just warehousees so never have to switch more then 1 input at a time

I wish there were more control such as all stores in this city link to X factory/warehiuse....but a set pricing policy for a player control company would be more effective in reducing the human player micromanaging.

There already is a filter in place that lets you select the cities where you want the batch change to occur. You can select all cities too. The problem is that this filter needs additional fine tuning so that I can select only the factories that are producing that product to batch switch.
I don't see how this change will effect decentralized production since they won't be using the batch switch feature anyway, as in your case. But this would drastically help those of us who want to keep all of our factories producing at the same quality. For quality to be the same, the input quality must be the same also, which is why I want to switch all factories producing the same good to the same supplier of an input.
For example I start off with leather farms and set up a warehouse for them. After a while, the production of all farms isn't enough to meet demand and there's no more room in the warehouse for another input anyway so I start a new bunch of leather farms. The new farms produce leather at a lower quality than my old farms which have been trained. I don't want my leather goods to have a bunch of different fractured quality. So I decide that my leather wallet and leather bag factories will use the new leather farms (through a warehouse) because there is no competition in those goods and a drop in quality won't hurt me very much as long as the quality is consistent. Right now, I have to manually switch over each and every single factory that is producing leather wallets and leather bags. I can't use the batch switch at all or else my other leather factories producing leather jackets and so forth will be switched too! That means the batch switch isn't as useful as it could be and I can only use it when circumstances allow, which is less than 50% of the times when I want to switch a lot of factories. Again, a more focused batch switch feature would help a lot with tedious switching of multiple factories.

I know this is an old discussion before my time, but besides the centralize or decentralize batch switch, another tiny issue about batch switch is its use with Production Customization.
With customized goods of different quality and tech level, we would expect to sell them simultaneously in the same city with different stores. But we can not just batch switch some of the stores in the city to a better (or worse) quality factory, while some stores still maintain old links (this is not an issue if part of the stores are ALREADY switched to different stage of the customized product though, but that defeat the purpose of batch switch in the first place). I wish we can simply click some of the stores in the batch switch screen (like with check boxes?)
