I play pretty aggressively for market share across the few product lines i go into. By far not the best strategy usually, but i also dont see coca cola trying to beat samsung in electronics. However i have noticed that buying the government buildings after getting mayor makes the game substantially easier.

The ai throws their starting cash into the mayorship for 2-3 cities and so comes up short. I pick one city every 4 years and since the ai doesnt invest into politics , i can easily become mayor of all the cities and have a multi million industry going. Add in being able to now buy established media and its even easier.

Mayors seem to struggle with growing a city on their own, even with major surplus. Car industry seems low. I live in a small town of 50,000 people with at least 4 car dealerships. Demand in game for a city of 500k is around 30-40 cars per month.

If demand irl was that low you wouldnt see 4 car dealerships in a town of 50k.

I would love to see a tangible ezport business ( exceed global city competitiveness and you open up an international market for that product class).

In this case, your company will be more profitable but your city will rake in less cash. Supposedly, this will make running your company easier but on the other hand make it harder to run the city with a balanced budget, right?

True.

As it is it doesnt seem too hard to have a balanced city even with them not owning apartments

As high as I could, i think.

I remember a game in v4.205 where I had a city that had around 800k people and was still making plenty of money, with three universities. It was competitive in a lot of areas, and GDP for the nation was around 12k at the time.

Better city competitiveness means more gdp which means more personal tax money right? im not sure how this all works.

I will be happy to play test this further though. I'm still learning a lot of how this game works so am not sure what all I need to be paying attention to.

From the gameplay point of view, if we make the AI more aggressive in donating money to political parties, AI corporations' financial positions will be weakened, thus making it easier for the player corporation to beat them in the market. Over time, the player corporation will get even more deep-pocketed and can donate even more money to the player's party and will eventually still win the mayoral elections easily with higher campaign budgets.

I think once you are in a leading position over your competitors, then you will be able to do that continuously, like in a base CapLab game. The way to make the game harder is probably to introduce harder difficulty settings in the new game setting menu. That's why I would like to obtain your save game and let the dev team study it and come up with new game settings with increased difficulty.

Here are two save files, these are both for version 4.205.

save file 20 shows a deficit actually. Not the surplus I thought, however. I must have been thinkingof the amount of cash.

However, save file 25 shows a net profit and 40% personal income tax. Jobs absolutely suck here, but, the population seems stable.

Would you like me to play test on version 4.205 and see if I can get the city to run population growth with high personal tax?
