I would like an option to start a company where I own 100% of the shares from the start. Ofcourse this option should also only let the player have an even smaller start capital than whats possible today.

Many big businesses has started with someone working from the beginning with his bare hands and nothing much else than maybe loans and by timely issued shares, been able to grow.
Agreeable, this option would be superhard (looking from the capII perspective), but after having beaten the game on the hardest setting for years, it would be very satisfying to be able to make it big, when you've only had peanuts to begin with.

If i'd have $10 mil when I started my business back in the beginning of the '90's, I'd probably be a very rich man today. Starting from scratch (more or less) is a completely different ballgame.

Can this be possible?

To elaborate on this idea a bit:

With less starter capital you would need to start in a very small scale, with ony a small farm or a store. You would need to collaborate with other companies to buy and sell items more than you have today.

In the current game I can start on the hardest setting, borrow $10 mil from the start and with a capital of $20 mil in total i can build an Ikea right from the forest all the way to the customers bedroom in no time. A month from the start my shares are cheap since I'm not yet profitable, so I use my personal $1 mil to buy more shares in my company.

What if I only had the capital to open a store or a small bed factory? Then I would need a supplier for the logs, and a client to buy the beds I produce. Atleast until My company is strong enough to go into the resource or retail business, and from there on building a self sufficient company.

I like this idea, have often thought on similar lines myself.

I like your idea Bigs. This would indeed be a setting that represents the start of many (big and smaller) companies in the world.

I did some reading what happens when you go enter the stockmarket with your company in the real world:

To extend your idea i suggest (if its possible in the game engine ofc) that you can start out with a company that doesnt even exist on the stock market yet. Just you as owner and start with lets say 1M cash.
Then when your company starts to have an annual revenue of amount xxxM (there are normaly several other things included but to keep it a little bit simple for sake of gameplay,) you can go to the stockmarket. Since its already included in the game, ofcourse the higher your initial revenue the higher the share price and thus the amount you and your company get from the selling of the initial shares.
So if your annual revenue is, for exsample, 10M you get less then when your AR is 100M

When you enter on the stockmarket, you (read: the game) automaticly buy up 51% of the shares issued on entering (these shares are bought with the money you as owner would get selling the initial shares (cash of another 10% or 15% sold issued shares go to you as owner aswell in the form of pure cash, the cash earned from other 39%/34% shares issued go to the company).

You ofcourse can also decide not to enter the stockmarket with your company.

Advantages you get with going to the stockmarket with your company:

1) Raise funds for you and your company
2) Instantly get a (1 time) bonus to your brand(s), (this can easily be calculated as changing the initial share price to xx%, so for sample if your initial shareprice is $19,54 your brand gets a 1 time bonus of 20%, meaning that if your brand of a product is lets say 40, it would instantly rise to 48)
3) your company now can buy/sell shares of other companies (not sure how this works in the real world, but this adds something to the gameplay, that if your company isnt on the stockmarket, it also cant buy/sell shares of other companies)

advantages of not going to the stockmarket:

1) you dont have to share.... ?
2) add an option in the HQ to be able to set that xx% of the annual profit goes to your personal account. (like the setting with dividend, as a sole owner and not having to abide by the rules of the stockmarket, you have the right to claim any if not all profit of your company) This option goes away when your company is registered on the stockmarket, since it ofcourse will change to the Dividend setting.
3) when your company goes bankrukt, add an option that you can insert an x amount of your personal cash into the company. This option goes away when your company is registered on the stockmarket.

There should be an option to really start from the scratch.

Yes, going to the stock market should be an option to rise additional capital.

Purifier, while I think your idea about starting fresh without being noted, I think the framework (I'm guessing here, frankly) doesn't support companies that aren noted on the stock exchange.

My point was aimed at a function that allready exists, namely the posibility to set your difficulty at the start of a game. Nothing else that adding a setting on the players starting capital and percentage of owned stocks would do the trick for this really. 0-5 mil (preferrably a possibility to set capital to complete zero) as a starter capital, any business you intend to go into would be difficult.

Ofcourse, with a setting of, say zero, you still would need to be able to lend money to be able to start a business. And in that setting perhaps your interest should be higher than if you actually had money from the beginning. The interest on loans in CapII are very low anyway, since you only pay the interest every month and you dont pay the mortage (is it really called that? I'm a Swede, and I can't really tell

Starting with zero capital and being on debt from the beggining is a great idea.
And the fact you don't have to pay regular payments is very helpfull

You can already do this in capitalism 2. Just pause the game at the start, then by up all your shares. Your company will be left with </= half the money it started with.

If you want to start at near $0, just have your company buy-back most of the issued equity from you. Since there's no way to get personal cash back into your company (with the exception of buying a second company, and transferring the cash via an IP or property buy, I suppose), you'll be left to depend on cash flow and debt.
