Prefer own stores/factories

I've always been a little frustrated at the way there seems to be no middle road between internal sale and "open for all" sale. In a high demand situation, where I first offer my product in my own stores to build up my brand then at some point click off internal sale to allow others to buy the product, my stores (or factories) end up not getting any supplies anymore as the product sells out to everyone else too quickly.

Would it not be possible to do something about this ? Here are some suggestions of which I hope at least one will work for the developers:
- Create a button "Prefer own stores/factories" that essentially holds back production for your own stores.
- Have a slider that allows owners to decide how much of the production should be sold to the "competition" (my preferred solution!)
- Automatically have a setting that puts the price up for the competition when your own stores don't get enough supply (eg some sort of premium cost due to demand), so at least you get more money. Should be automated as manual gets unwieldly in late game
- Make exports to other cities togglable, city by city. This would allow flexibility to hold off on selling something to a city where your brand is not strong. I like this one too, not necessarily hard to Program, but offers real strategic possibilities.

Maybe others have ideas they would like to throw into the mix on this one.

Maybe pinning the internal sales to the sales units. That way you can have one inventory unit that will supply you through its own sales unit, and have another sales unit to sell to the rest.
Your ideas are better anyway.
