I got the following error when trying to create a new subsidiary -- "Sorry, the maximum number of corporations allowed in the game has been reached".
My game version is 5.8.00. Right now there are 40 companies in total. There are many M&A along the game. Some hard threshold reached? Anyway to modify that?

The hard threshold is 58.

But for companies that went bankrupt or got merged, their company names will be reserved for some years before new companies can use the names. So you may wait for a few years and try again.
