The industry sectors the game has are great, but I'd like to see other industries such as Gambling, Hotels, Restaurants, Movie Studios, Muic Lables, Airlines, etc.

Only discovered this forum last weekend, hence the late response.
Hotels, restaurants, ... could be an extension of the housing market in the current model. However in order to have people using it, this section should become slightly more profitable as currently it's far from a worthy alternative to building another store / factory / farm.
Movie Studios, Music Labels: how do you see that implemented in practice, would these work like "factories" or more like stores where you have suppliers and demand?
Airlines: for me that would shift the focus too much towards a Transport Tycoon (or by extension Railroad Tycoon III where you could buy industries) kind of game.

I think introducing insurance company is anotheridea that I would like to have. Besides, the global economy now talks about environmental friendly, I would like to see new industries such as green energy can be developed in the game like solar power, wind power and more. Moreover, more green products such as electric cars / hydrogen fuel cars

How many of you would like to see power plants in the new version?
It may not be a very exciting new game feature. But if you see it adding significantly to the gameplay, you may post your viewpoints and suggestions here.

I believe power plants (and all utilities, really) could add quite a bit of depth to the game. For example, utility costs could be folded into the running costs of a factory/business. Of course, higher population/factory density would be better for profits, but it would also be possible for you to build/buy a utility (such as a power plant) and build around it, making the usage of that utility for you free.

I think train station and transport company stay near factory that can reduce freight cost can be a new ideal, as the freight cost in the game is unreasonably high.

I also suggest to enhance the foreign trading function on port. As like as Wal-mart, some player may only focus on retail industry, if the foreign goods can provide muilt-brand, variety class, stable and normalize goods, it can let us rethink the business strategy.

I suggest to create thirdly industry like tourism. It can be similar to function of factory or shop in game.
As seem as another shop, it can call it Travel Agent (Shop name), use purchase unit to buy the service from 6 buildings.
1 - Airline service in Airport;
2 - At rest is Hotel;
3 - Food is Restaurants / Pub;
4 - Sport is beach / spa centre / Stadium;
5 - Sight Seeing is Themepark / museums / Great Wonder;
6 - Entertainment is Concert / Night Club / Casino.
And then use manufacturing unit to combine all of it as tourist's journey, and link to sale unit. Finally, it still remain 1 hole for the advertising unit.

All buildings use different rating level to classify the quality of it.
For example, Sight Seeing buildings have Themepark / Museums / Great Wonder, etc,
the rating range of Museums = 10~40; Themepark = 40~70; Great Wonder = 70~100.
To make it easy to handle, it can like media building using operation cost adjustment to control the rating level.
Finally, manufacturing unit will calculate all 6 type building rating to find the combination quality result.
Why I suggest to add tourism industry?
Let Hong Kong as an example, there are 4 million tourists traveling each year. Tourism industry cannot be under-estimated as the major parts of the city's economic activities.

I am pleaseantly surprised to see that the series is being actively discussed and improved. It is an excellent game of course, but learning that there will be Capitalism Lab is much more than I expected (I was just searching for a patch when I came across this forum site). I bought the original at Micro Center when it was released, and only recently came across Cap 2 at gog.com (I have played it out more or less, hence my search for alternative product sets, or other add-ons). Also, on that note I think the replayability would be vastly improved by allowing custom products (such as an editor that lets me create 'Refigerator', costing steel and plastic). Maybe I have missed something, but did not see it along with Cap 2.
One serious suggestion that I have for Capitalism Lab is the inclusion of an after-market for some products, and the associated firm types. Junkyards, scrapyards, or recycling facilities would be an interesting and realistic inclusion as a business, and I don't imagine too difficult to implement. The firms would offer alternative sources for raw materials or semi-products, such as iron, steel, plastic, etc.. you get the idea. It is an industry that I see happening a great deal in real life, and has really become an essential part of the life-cycle for consumer products.
Other industries besides recycling would be very interesting in general, but if I had to pick my favorite, it would be Insurance, hands down.
Insurance company, and recycling facility. If cap lab has either of these then I am buying it on day 1. I've only ever played single player custom scenarios anyway, so am really looking forward to this.
