I want to purchase lands from other players, but it seems this is not allowed, my suggestion is to enable the free land trading. Is it possible in the coming patches?

In the next patch:

You will be able to sell land plots owned by your subsidiary companies. So if you have identified a company owning a good number of valuable land plots in prime locations and is also an easy target for acquisition, you may use this feature to support your corporate expansion strategy.

I have a tendency when I start a new game to go around to the 7 different cities and buy up a couple of parcels in highly desirable locations right as the game starts. I did notice for the first time that one of the AI did own some land in an area that I would have liked to own to place a new supermarket shop.

It would have been really grand if I could negotiate with the AI to either buy that land from them or to lease it for a certain amount of time. If I buy it, then great, seems simple enough, I get the parcels of land and money gets transfered to the AI.

If I lease / rent it from the AI, then I get ownership of the land for the amount of time specified in our negotiations (between player and AI that owns the parcels) and maybe 6 months or so before the lease is up, I would need to negotiate with the AI again to try to keep the lease on the property. If I can't or don't want to pay what it would take to convince the AI to let me continue leasing / renting the property, then I forfeit the building that I've built on the property and it goes to the owner of the property.

Yeah, I'd love to see stuff like that, which IMO would help at least a little towards making me feel that the AI is more than what it currently is....

I like your idea Citybuilder, if this is possible to be build into the game, it realy adds to what a real estate company does in RL.
