I think increasing the price for natural resource is not a good strategy to reduce the monopoly. Instead natural resources should be auctioned. This can help to reduce the monopoly in 2 ways
1) If your corporation is not doing well at the time of an auction you may choose not to submit a bid.
2) A corporation may not want to invest too much if the expected return is too low.
