There is that one competitor I want to take over. The company is a private company, not listed at the stock exchange. Completely owned by the CEO. It is the only private company of them all that does not have the "acquire" button. The only difference I found to the others is that it is selling a/the rival OS.
Is there no way to take over that company? Why is there no button to buy the private company?

It is for gameplay balancing. The rival OS company needs to stay independent to prevent the player from monopolizing the OS market too easily. Otherwise, the game will not be fun when there is no competition in the OS market.
