Capitalism Lab can't access files in "My Documents - My Games " because I'm using Microsoft Onedrive which has changed the location of "My Documents" and the result is that I can't start a game.

I followed some instructions years before, but it seems that the Onedrive's mechanism has changed now： If you deselect the files, the files will only exist in the cloud and delected from your disk.

So I want to change the save location of the game, to a place where Onedrive don't sync, so that I can play my Captitalism. How can I do that? I tried to change the path in "FilePath.txt" but it didn't work.

It seems that the game was not able to recognize the "#OD#\kinaesthetic" in the file path.

Any chance that you could modify the Overdrive path so that it doesn't contain "#OD#\kinaesthetic" ?

Alternatively, you can try adding "\My Games" to FilePath.txt.

I have been experimenting for hours and here are the results:

1. "FilePath.txt" is something like a "log", when you enter the game, this file will be updated to show the current path of "DOCUMENTS", changing it results in nothing.


2. I stopped using Onedrive to backup "Documents" and tried to modify the path of "Documents", all the paths listed below lead to game Error.

C:\USERS\NEGU\_OD_\KINAESTHETIC\ONEDRIVE\~~IMPORTANT FOLDERS\DOCUMENTS
C:\USERS\NEGU\OD\KINAESTHETIC\ONEDRIVE\~~IMPORTANT FOLDERS\DOCUMENTS
C:\USERS\NEGU\OD\KINAESTHETIC\ONEDRIVE\IMPORTANT FOLDERS\DOCUMENTS
C:\USERS\NEGU\ONEDRIVE\DOCUMENTS

except for the default one:

C:\USERS\NEGU\DOCUMENTS

3. Other programs on my system works fine with a "Documents" whose path have been modified like "C:\USERS\NEGU\#OD#\KINAESTHETIC\ONEDRIVE\~~IMPORTANT FOLDERS\DOCUMENTS"

4. So I think it's not Onedrive's problem since I had stopped using it to backup "Documents". It's this game's problem that it is incompatible with a path modified "Documents". Fix it, please!

The programmer has modified some code in an attempt to fix the problem. Please download the latest patch v7.1.10 from https://www.capitalism2.com/forum/viewt ... f=7&t=8514 and let us know if it is resolved.

The problem is resolved, I can enter the game now, thanks!

But the problem is fixed in a very "rough" way: Now a new "My Games" folder would be built directly under user/username/ ,and "Captitalism Lab" will be saved there, separated from other files in the "true" "My games".

Hoping that this fix or game saving scheme can be improved in the coming patch!

Could you please delete FilePath.txt and run the game and see if it generates a new FilePath.txt log file?

If so, please let me know the content of it as the programmer would like to get this info in order to determine the right approach in addressing it.

Yes it generates a new FilePath.txt log file.

The content of it is : C:\USERS\NEGU\#OD#\KINAESTHETIC\ONEDRIVE\~~IMPORTANT FOLDERS\DOCUMENTS

We have released a new patch v7.1.11 that fixes the remaining issue. Now the save game files will be saved in the correct OneDrive folder.
