Software companies

I haven't played in a while and wanted to check out version 10.x.
Unfortunately, it still seems that almost every AI opponent creates a software company alongside their normal products. That doesn't make any sense. Is there a way to change this via a script?

Yes, unfortunately this is true, a lot of things are illogical. I also think there's been far too much focus on graphical innovations recently and the playability, logic and balancing have been neglected. I also hope that this will be tackled a bit more in the next versions, now that everything that is possible in terms of graphics will soon be done.

My understanding is that software is a highly profit industry and the game needs AI competitors to compete with the player. Otherwise, it will be too easy to make profit in software and the game will be unbalanced. I think it is always like this since the Digital Age DLC came out years ago.
If you are certain that this is not the case and the AI performed differently in the previous versions, you may provide me with savegames and I will forward it to the dev team to investigate.
You can still download older versions from these links:

Could you please create posts for these issues one by one so that we can look into it?
It is possible that some of these could be a matter of game balancing which would need discussions and inputs from the community to suggest balancing tweaks to the dev team, like the one being discussed at:

Years ago, I posted the same issue:
viewtopic.php?p=31121#p31121
It's still very annoying.
In older versions I simply deactivated any software (except OS) by deleting from Software_tech.txt.
Is there already a Mod Kit available for 10.x? Can't find it.
I think making software in general is very unbalanced, but I don't want to play without the whole Digital DLC.
Thank you.

Is there a way to change this via a script?
Please see:
https://www.capitalismlab.com/version100/
The Script Line for Changing Global Stock Performance in Banking and Finance DLC
You can now change the performance of global stocks to a greater extent by using the following script line:
Global Stock Performance Modifier=<-10 to 10>
When Global Stock Performance Modifier is defined, the game will ignore the setting on the new game settings menu.
Note: setting on the new game settings menu only changes the global stock performance in the range from -2 to 2. You can use this script line to alter it much more significantly.
