Ideas for sharing the user-created MODs

Post by David »

We would like to invite ideas for a better way for users to find the MODs they like, and letting MOD creators sharing their MODs more effectively.

Currently this forum and CapitalismFans.com fan site are the main ways for MODs exchange. Any suggestions for any alternative ways are welcome.

Hmm...well this would take away traffic opportunity for Capitalismfans.com but the only real improvement would be to have mods submitted to you guys directly, tested, and once improved make it available to select and play via an in-game app store/mode store. To make it user friendly by selecting the mode and clicking install it will be installed properly for the game. This probably would be the ideal way to ensure all mods are tested and do not hurt the stability of the game....I guess the non-approved/risker mods could find a home on Captalismfans.com for players who are willing to take more "risk". Like a mod that infringes on trade markets or introdces rated-R content or exploit the game etc.

Summary: In-Game app store; Mods submitted and tested by Enlight for inclusion in the store.

Hi William, this is a good suggestion and I will forward your idea about in-game mod store to the dev team for consideration.

And in parallel, we can make CapitalismFans.com a more prominent site for user created mods that Enlight did not involve in reviewing. Right now the MOD forum, while useful, oftentimes users have to digest a lot of unnecessary information, including information related to older, obsoleted versions of MODs before they will find the MODs that work with their versions of Capitalism Lab.

Do you think it is possible for you to create a new section titled "MOD" on the CapitalismFans.com home page? The section could list all available MODs and the versions of CapLab each of them supports.

Also, it would be great if MOD creators can have a way to update their MODs conveniently on CapitalismFans.com as I saw that some MOD creators released updates to their MODs quite frequently and any efforts to minimize the interface steps required for such updates on CapitalismFans.com would be helpful.

Thanks!

Hmm...I can remove the older version mod when they're uploaded...but might be useful to keep if a user found a mod more stable or suitable for an older version of Capitalism Lab...though I think I'm the only one playing a year old Cap Lab verison.

As for information on compatibility that could be added to the description of the page and maybe even a notice that here's the latest version. For me, it would be helpful if the creators uploaded their mods directly to CapitalismFans.com (especially considering its a better distribution method than the forums) and send me note to remove or make a note that there's an updated version.

This forum has a wealth of information but for someone considering purchasing the game or a casual players its not the most friendly way to show how active our community is.

We would encourage CapLab MOD creators to post their MODs on CapitalismFans.com at:

http://www.capitalismfans.com/download/ ... m-lab.html

Currently on the official Capitalism Lab web site, there is a link to CapitalismFans.com's MOD page:
http://www.capitalismlab.com/download-u ... -mods.html

If it gathers enough support from CapLab MOD creators, we will also create a link directly to CapitalismFans.com's MOD page from the in-game MOD selection interface.

It may not be clear on the site but once you register an account you can go to the download section and then you will see the option to upload your mods directly to the site, it publishes immediately.

I will update the Howto page to demonstrate this process.

The latest version 2.6.17 now has a new MOD download aid interface.

Here it is how it looks like:
http://www.capitalismlab.com/download-u ... -mods.html

And CapitalismFans.com is included in the MOD download source list.

Should be resolved shortly. Looks like they uploaded a file and replaced the index. Everything else appears to be in place.

A new file is uploaded!
