I seem to remember posting about this at least once in the long ago, but can't find it. In any case, I'd REALLY like to have the ability to apply intensive training on a firm by firm basis. In other words, when you start an intensive training program, it will have a button to choose "all workers" or "select firms" like the new "adjust training level" option in version 2.6 29.
In the real world, of course, companies apply targeted intensive training programs every day in factories or stores which they have recently built/staffed, acquired, or switched over to production/sale of a new product. In gameplay terms, it's wasteful (not to mention wildly expensive) to train every employee in every factory/shop/mine etc., etc.
Based on what I've read about the new version, the game engine will not spend money training units already at level 9, although I haven't been able to test that yet. I'm not sure if this is also true for intensive training programs (is it?). Even if it does work for intensive training, there are always factories I don't WANT to improve. For example, I often have one factory manufacturing a big volume product like toothpaste for sale to my competitors, while I sell the same product from a different factory in the same cities. I'd like to be able to "instantly" upgrade my own source factory and sales outlets while keeping a lid on the product supply to my competitors. As the game develops, I may even have a separate mine, oil well, or lumber mill for sales to competitors and, again, I'd prefer to limit its efficiency.
I'm hoping this is reasonably simple to program - after all, you did something very similar to specifically target in-store training levels.
Thanks so much for continuing to improve this game, the best simulation of any kind I've seen in almost 3 decades of computer gaming!!

Re: Targeted Training capability
Oh, forgot something important! I'm probably being greedy here, but would it be possible to give the player a message screen calculating the total amount of the training program AND estimating the number of level increases it will buy before we commit to it? Thanks ...
Re: Targeted Training capability
Sounds like its almost cover a major part of the human resource department's jobs. Perhaps a even more powerful human resource deportment can be added along with your idea. Even by unit-type training where you only want a higher retail sales units, or manufacturing unit, even annual auto intense training.

Re: Targeted Training capability
Counting, I agree that kind of flexibility would be nice. I'd LOVE it if I could specifically train individual manufacturing/sales/purchasing units in a factory, for example, but I assume that would require a lot of reprogramming. If we could just target individual factories/stores, that would be a big improvement, yes? Maybe that requires a lot of reprogramming too?
If anyone reading this would also like the ability to target training for individual firms, please leave a comment (at least a thumbs up or down) so Enlight will take notice. I'd appreciate it ....
