Running Capitalism Lab Under Linux Operating Systems

Post by borakrc »

Hello everyone,

As I mentioned here, I couldn't find a satisfying way to play Capitalism Lab under Linux OS's. Building a virtual Windows operating system under linux isn't really working, and I couldn't do it with wine either. Can anyone help?

What problem are you having building a VM?

Maybe try VMWare workstation. I use VMWare Fusion on Mac, and its working great (although I do have a non-critical resolution issue Im trying to resolve)

I know this is an old post, but after years the wine developer fixed the bug which prevent CapLab to start. With the wine developer version (current 1.7.51)
I'm able to start the program. Everything but scrolling seems to work so far. I can choose a campaign, input my company name and so on and start it.
But I'm not able to scroll over the map. I just see changing the graphic where the mouse is. The funny thing is, if I open e.g. the stock exchange scrolling is working. But than if I click on another menu the screen changes only if I will scroll. But this is a little error I can live with.

May someone more sophisticated with wine can fix the scrolling error. I would be very glad to hear about it. I can't play the game since years, because I have no ms windows any more.
