Hi all,
In real life, Semi-products, and natural resources are the essential products that are necessary for a company to build their products.
From my experience in this game, the demand for these products, and their profitability is not properly adjusted. Using the maximum allowable competitors, and over 500 products, 80 years into the game, there is very little room to be a semi-producer in a product in such high demand as even steel.
Because of the expense of mining raw material, and the ease of access to these materials by the ai, most ai, will choose to manufacture their own semi products. This is somewhat counter intuitive, as generally, companies prefer to stay in-house. Semi-products are the exception, and I am trying to conceive of how this could be effectively implemented into this game.
Tell me your thoughts.

Re: Semiproduct demand
That would require serious rebalancing of whole raw materials sector.
Also AI modification to first look for cheap alternatives. If AI can produce CPU for 50$ but can find competitor chip for 10$, he should be picking cheap option.
Also, CPU factories are built too quickly, it takes at least a year to make a factory. But that is minor gripe.
I must say, some semiproducts sell successfully even now, but just some.
AI loves to buy plastic for example, and textiles, paper.
