Interesting Idea

Post by intelJoe »

Hi All,

Feel free to delete this thread if it's been discussed before.

But it would be awesome if a button or the like could be added to mines/logging/oil/factories (etc) and the like for a "at cost". The way I set up my supply lines and such, I will generally like all of my industries to sell the goods to my retailers at cost. But in most cases because of how much materials and shipping costs are calculated and the little "+" and "-" buttons increase and decrease the selling price. I can never get it to exactly the amount. Not to mention that occasionally depending on if costs due supply chains and such will cause fluctuations in the "at cost" price from time to time.

Additionally, when the factories sell the finished goods to retails. I would really wish to see a "default price" (adjusted by inflation) button that could be added.

Hi intelJoe,

would be kinda impossible to have the factory / farm set a "sell at cost automation" as the total cost can only be calculated afterwards and depending on sale it will be a huge difference inbetween lowest n highest price, as you got monthly overheads + salaries/training that has to be split across all sold units at the end of month.
if you sell lets say 10 sandals a month in that factory it ll be like $40.000 for 1 pair of sandals n if ya sell 200.000 a month its roughly $2.80 for 1 pair. rubber price at $0.42 (2 rubber fields + 1 sales unit per town costs about $3m per year at 4.8m rubber per field on level 1, by $2m revenue per field if all 4.8m units of rubber sold it will be $0.42 that way i only need to sell 66% of the rubber to break even as never wanna run out of materials ya always produce more then needed)
same with rawmaterials like timber 1 looging unit 1 inventory 1 sales unit quali 57 if ya sell 350k timber a month you need to ask $0.92 per unit to break even (thats about 90% utilization of the 1 logging unit at level 1) if ya sell 100k timber its roughly $1.90 per timber for break even.

i always set the prices for every farm product/factory good the moment i set up the farm /factory and never change it again... they gonna run on loss for a while but after they got a few levels up n the sales going up too, they gonna run on profit.

as an example by 296 shops n 210 factories + 50 farms + 42 warehouses +20 R&D +7 logging camps + 4mines i end up by roughly 7bn revenue with 3bn profit whilest stores make 2.5bn, factories 367m, farms 88m, 42 warehouses 17m,r&d make 94m loss, logging camps + mines make 31 milion loss alltogehter (including the loss for the upfront purchase as i sell the gold at $450 instead of $800 per unit to break even) thats 40% profit margin. the prices were calculated in spreadsheets as i dont the hassle to change them everytime the profit gets too high, therefore i see from the beginning what will be the average costs per unit and could drop to sell aqt cost in reail shops if neccessary, but never needed to drop the price that far down in cap lab.
