3.2.03 Bug!?: Warehouse Switch Brand/Supplier Bug

Post by WilliamMGary »

As many of you know I relay on warehouses to distribute products out to my stores. In my latest game I setup a warehouse to buy the seaport goods and distribute them out to the stores. I began, naturally, manufacturing my high necessary index products. The vision was to simply switch from buying Bath Lotion from the Seaport to buying Bath lotion from my factory, as the Seaport Bath lotion stuck cleared out from the warehouse the stores would begin receiving shipment of our company manufactured and branded products.

This did not happen. The WEIRD thing is that the last retail store I opened actually began stuck our company manufactured/branded product but ALL my other stores did not. After waiting about a month, suffering loses, I decided to leave central office and head to one of the AFFECTED retail stores. I checked the supplier source and confirmed it was receiving supply from the distribution warehouse. Knowing that by now the warehouse is only shipping out our manufactured/branded products I click the purchase unit and double clicked our warehouse for the desired product (i.e. Bath Lotion) ONLY then did the branded products change.

Though my strategy/vision was genius (of course :), the game didn't perform as expected. It APPEARS that because the "source" technically didn't change even though the product the retail store was receiving was in-fact different the retail employees was unaware of the branding change and kept stocking the seaport products. This should not be happening.

Save Game: http://1drv.ms/1TkIUJy (this save game can be used link the factories in Milan to the warehouse and you should be able to reproduce the issue)

P.S. You can go to the Lipstick warehouse and visit the stores to verify this issue. This bug creates major operational issues.

I checked your save game file. Your retail store is actually buying from your warehouse, not the seaport. (see attached screenshot). So it is functioning correctly.

Grr yeah but the issue I described remains.....looks like that's a store I was fixing.

What was happening is I stock sea port products in the warehouse, and then switched to my brand and I kept waiting for my brand to show up in the stores and it never did. Did you try this?

Summary: When you stock a product from manufacture A in the warehouse, Manufactures A product show up in the store, when you switch that Manufacture A product to Manufacture B it should begin stocking in the store, but it doesn't the store even though its buying from the warehouse which is stocking Manufacture B product the store still sees it as Manufacture A.

Please see video. Let me know once issues has been seen in video (taking up valuable one drive space lol) and if you were able to replicate the issue.

Yes, I tried it and it worked flawlessly.

Did you 1) clear the old stock in the Sales Unit and 2) wait for the new stock to move from the Purchasing Unit to the Sales unit?

David,

Video: http://1drv.ms/1WOhvPO

It's a little concerning that for such a simple bug you're not able to replicate it, as a result, I created a new custom game and set the same conditions and I was able to re-create the issue. The video is only 1 min long.

Details (if necessary):

The warehouse was setup to purchase Sandals from the seaport, and send it out to the retail store. I then manufactured Sandals and had the warehouse's only purchase unit buy from the factory replacing the seaport factory. After the seaport supply was depleted our company branded Sandals stock began shipping out. At the retail store though the supply change the retail store did not notice the difference until I went to the supplier link and establish the link to the warehouse.

As mentioned in the first post it seems that the last open store may actually do it properly, so you may need 2 or 3 stores. Please let me know if you were able to confirm this issue.

Anyone else experienced this?

This is also happening for factories/semi-products. This along with the View Clients bug (confirmed/unconfirmed) is making it very difficult to play the game. It's basically trying to play while avoiding lane mines.

The quality level change is being recognized just not the supplier/brand.

I saw that you didn't have any factories producing Lipstick nor Bath Lotion on your own in your save game. In this case, you were not able to produce any Lipstick nor Bath Lotion of your own brand.

For your recent video on Sandals, please provide your save game file as well and I will check it for you.

Save Game: http://1drv.ms/1PwV8iq

David,

In the above save game we originally purchased Blazer from the Sea Port which is no longer avaiable at any sea port (should help with troubleshooting and identifying issue :). When the connection with the seaport supplier was broken we started receiving shipment from Power Company for their blazer. Once the seaport stock ran out Power Company blazers started shipping out from the warehouse, however, none of the starts updated with that information.

When you click View Supplier the first retail store I refreshed the connection with the warehouse which is why its showing Power Company Blazer, the rest of our stores are still claiming to be stocking Blazer with 71 quality from the warehouse when the blazer from the seaport was 51%.

I've confirmed I'm patched for latest beta, please let me know if you're able to confirm issue.
