Want To Make New Natural Resource Firms

Post by derekg52 »

Hey all,

I have my expanded factories, warehouses and farms working just fine. For example I made a 5x capacity, 25x and 50x capacity for those and they all appear nicely in the list and work as expected.

When I try this for one of the natural resource firms, my new one (a mine for example) overwrites the oil well in the list, and the list cannot expand past 3. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

For example in my buildings.dbf I have these types of entries, the factory one works fine, the mine and oil well not so much.

FACTORY FACTORY7 5x Factory 4 4 50000 2000 1000 40 1 1
MINE MINE2 5x Mine 2 2 10000 1000 1000 40 1 1
OIL OIL2 5x Oil 2 2 10000 1000 1000 40 1 1

Anyone have any thoughts?

@David - it would also be good to have a TERA_TYPE in Natural_Resources.dbf for seaport locations, i.e.:

Code: Select all

0 - any terrain types
1 - forest only (for Timber)
2 - sea only
This is needed for natural resources such as:
  • Crab
    Fish
    Hydropower
    Krill
    Lobster
    Pearls
    Salmon
    Seals
    Shrimp
    Squid
    Whales
The game already has the logic to find sea locations - use the same code used to add seaports - they're in the exact same place. So, the team would just need to add the new '2' TERA_TYPE option, and plot natural resources that use that ID the same way they plot a seaport.

I know piermario's excellent RealWorld mod uses farmed fisheries to get around this, but let's get this feature added and make future mods even better! There's nothing wrong with keeping both in a mod - farmed fisheries for lower-quality smaller production quantities of certain types of sea creatures, and a bigger selection and quantity of higher-quality resources available by the sea naturally.
