This is a good suggestion. Any ideas about how to incorporate this new interface control onto the current interface which is already quite packed? This could be as simple as, either (a) an option which the user toggles on/off that activates/deactivates; (b) a button in each firm /product summary pane labeled "Target Margin": the rest of that UI element could be identical to the one for price setting (a number and a +/- toggle).

Please see my reply at this thread: http://www.capitalismlab.com/forum/view ... 259#p18259I never realize there's a load game screen, it's always super fast for me, like only seconds. I do like the trending upward line animation though. I wonder how many tips can be shown in such limited space and time. And I suppose the game interface should really be inside the first tutorials, since describing them is no where near as effective as showing them and highlighting them in their actual position.

Looks like, for the Firm\Product pane there is room to squeeze it in under the existing price control.David wrote:This is a good suggestion. I'll also look at the City\Product pane and see if it might be squeezed in there too . . .
ADDIT: an even more "draft" image (wiped these up in Paint in like 5 min . . . but good enough for storyboarding I guess)

ADDIT#2: obviously "10%" is not the correct margin for a cost of $78.12 and price of $186 . . . should say ""238%"
I just typed in a number to show roughly how the elements could be positioned. This one is less satisfactory than the Firm\Product\Pricing pane; everything is more tightly packed in the existing UI. The ideal would be to reposition most of the elements in the Price tab . . . but that could be a helluva lot of work. Might be easier to reduce font sizes or scaling a bit on everything in that tab and avoid repositioning stuff and then simply put the Margin control about where I have it here.
I suppose that getting the cout() function (or whatever that function is that gives the value back for the user to see when they toggle the + / -) in the existing code to play nice with the new "###%" output might be a bit tangly. It would certainly need to feed back and forth between the two input-output values. Could be too much hassle to get it to work, but maybe not!
Glad to help if the idea proves to be of any merit for you guys!

It always works since Cap II regardless versions. For a more clear picturized explanation.Diche_Bach wrote: ADDIT: Hey Eleaza, are you sure it works the way you were describing with the arrows (this is 4.306 with no DLC)?
I may well still not be doing it right, but I'm not having any luck with the "filters" doing what I want . . . assuming I am doing it wrong, would probably need to post a series of marked up screen caps with captions to get feedback sufficient to get it right. I'm not inclined to do that right now (just want to play the game!) but let me know if you're sure and I'll (a) examine it a bit more closely and/or (b) post screen caps to show you what I'm doing. I'm basically a power-user, but only a score of hours experience with the game (roughly) so I might be a decent indicator of how clear the UI is . . .
Or I might just be "being dense" in this instance!
Press the Firm Filter button here, choose the type of firm you want to filter Press the My Firm button if you only want to show your own firm, or just press hotkey F8 Right now it shows there are 3 firms matching my filter condition (retail, my firm, all products, all cities), and click any of your retail store (if you can not find one, just use the up and down arrow key to auto locate one) And then you can flip through these filtered firms with up down arrow keys, and if there are more than one city, you can use right and left arrow key to flip through different cities.
It's not so hard, isn't it?

Re: Diche_Bach Suggestions
I suppose that you meant displaying the margin percentage next to the label "Margin", like "Margin: 150%", with the [+][-] buttons next to it?
When the player changes the margin using the [+][-], it will automatically apply change to the price amount. And if the player changes the price directly, the margin will also be updated accordingly. Is this what you have in mind?
To convince the dev team that there is a demand for this new feature from the user community, I would suggest that you create a post with a poll seeking people's feedback. With enough positive feedback, there will be a good chance that it will get implemented.

Okay! In that case I'll take a bit more time on it and come up with some better screen caps to show how it might work.David wrote:I suppose that you meant displaying the margin percentage next to the label "Margin", like "Margin: 150%", with the [+][-] buttons next to it?
