Currently the Random Select button seems to work exactly like the Select button.
New Game -> Accomplishments -> Random Select. After opportunity of selecting other new game options and pressing Start, the selected product class mission is *always* the one that happened to be highlighted in the Accomplishments. I get the expertise and some market dominance goals related to that product class. No randomness at all. I would expect that I should have no clue what mission I got until the game is started and I see the goals and the expertise the game gave me.
The same goes for Random Select of Mega Product Class Mission. No randomness from the Random Select.
CapLab version 5.6.16 Relase. Subsidiary DLC enabled and the other two disabled. No mods.
Btw, using the Accomplishments seems to set the game option Product Customization to On (disabling the Technology Disruption), but leaving the other options alone. Why cannot Accomplishments leave these options alone as well?
EDIT: Some weeks ago I did an accomplishment on Tobacco Products. But the "Highest Difficulty Rating" was noted as for Toys, i. a row off on "the board". Unfortunately I don't have any save-game or .DAT file from that time but maybe you could look into that problem as well?
EDIT2: Please ignore (almost) the stuff about the Product Customization option. It is not only Accomplishment that set that enables PC. It is set to On every now and then in an unpredictible way. I haven't seen any pattern yet but it is irritating to that not all custom options are left alone even.

Re: Accomplishments Random Select is not random
I've tested it multiple times and the Product Customization functions properly.EDIT2: Please ignore (almost) the stuff about the Product Customization option. It is not only Accomplishment that set that enables PC. It is set to On every now and then in an unpredictible way. I haven't seen any pattern yet but it is irritating to that not all custom options are left alone even.
After you have selected an Accomplishment game, it will open the game setting menu. From there, please select the "Products" tab and set the "Product Customization" option (as the attached screenshot).
Did you experience a circumstance where you explicitly enabled it and ended up seeing it disabled in the game? You could see its setting in-game by press the F9 key.

If you encounter the problem again, please send me your save game just before you accomplished all the goals, prior to the congratulations screen). I will then load your game, run it and check if the score is registered correctly on the tobacco industry.

Re: Accomplishments Random Select is not random
First off, I can confirm that the accomplishment randomness seems to be there now. Thanks!
As for the automatic change of option value for the Product Customization: I was probblay doing too many things at the same time. Working more systematically the tracks leads towards Digital Age DLC. When Digital Age DLC is set to On, the Product Customizaton is by default silently set to On (High) and Technology Disruption disappears (since they are mutually exclusive). All other options seems to be untouched by enabling the DLC just like it should be (in my opinion).
Once DA is enabled I cannot provoke a reset to On. As soon as I disable and reenable the DA DLC the PC option is again silently set to On...
Step to recreate:
Delete or move away CONFIG.DAT (starting fresh)
Start CapLab and enable Subsidiary DLC, leaving DA and CE disabled. No mods.
New Game -> Custom game
- Products tab and verify Product Customization (PC) is Off.
- Environmaent tab and set Technology Disruption (TD) to On.
- Optionally change other options in order to see if they are changed, e.g. No of cities or No of seaports.
- Start a game to make the options "stick". Press escape and quit to main menu.
New Game -> Custom game
- Environment tab and verify TD is still On.
- Product tab and verify PC is still Off.
Back Back to Main menu and enable Digital Age DLC.
New Game -> Custom Game
- Environment tab: TD option is gone!
- Products tab: PC option has been set to On!
- The other options seem to not have been touched.
Looks like when Digital DLC is set to on, the default for PC is On (High), thus making TD invisible. In my opinion enabling/disabling DLC:s should not touch the options at all (except of course for its own unique options and even there they should should have a neutral value). In this case Product Customization is not even a Digital Age DLC feature, it's a Subsidiary feature, isn't it?
At least I play with and without differant DLC, sometimes with a certain DLC sometimes without.
Finally, as for the Accomplishments "score board" I haven't had opportunity to make a try yet.I'll post here when I do it and maybe recreated the problem.

Re: Accomplishments Random Select is not random
Product Customization is a feature that can be enabled in Subsidiary DLC or the Digital Age DLC.
Currently when the player activates the Digital Age DLC, the game will automatically enable Product Customization. But the player may switch it off manually.
As for tech disruption, it is mutually exclusive with product customization, due to the fact that product customization relies a mechanic that assumes tech levels will only go up, and never go down. But tech disruption does reduce tech levels and therefore is not compatible with product customization.

Re: Accomplishments Random Select is not random
But why is DA enabling this Product Customization? Thus not only diabling another option but also hiding it completely? Why not just have both options automatically set to Off leaving it to the player to make the choice? Or at least leave TD visible in Off just like the other way around (PC is still visible (in Off) when TD is set to On). It looks like a lot of preparation work is needed to start using PC with new images and such. Image art is hard for a non-artist like me and probably many other players.
As for my las issue is this thread (sorry for having more than one issue in the same thread) I did succeed to repeat it. Save game attached. It is right before the lzst goal (Revenue) was reached. CapLab 5.6.17 Release, only Subsidiary DLC enabled. No mods.
As seen in the first screenshot, everything looks ok, the bar is for Tobacco Products.
Happy with my accomplishment I enabled the Digital Age DLC and restarted CapLab. Over time a player may want to enable/disable DLC:s and might not have CapLab running 24/7.
After that the bar have moved to Sports Equipment! See second screenshot. I believe that Software has been inserted into the table screwing up the rest of the table. It looks like that the bar is set to belong to the n:th row and inserting new product classes afterward screw up the table, shifting only the first column and not the entire table.

Re: Accomplishments Random Select is not random
Our aim is to get more user to use customization as new users may not be aware of it. Would you suggest having both DLCs automatically enabling the Product Customization option when the DLC is activated? If none of the DLCs automatically toggle it on, then it is quite possible that the new users may miss out on the new feature provided by Product Customization. And mods such as RealWorld mods do take advantage of the Product Customization by offering lots of custom product images. Without that option enabled, users won't be able to see them.But why is DA enabling this Product Customization? Thus not only diabling another option but also hiding it completely? Actually, you could use a mod like RealWorld mod that comes with lots of custom images. If you want to try incorporating custom images into the game on your own, it is really easy. If you are not very demanding on the image quality, you could basically just get them from a web source and resize them to the 120x120 image size, with no additional graphics work required.It looks like a lot of preparation work is needed to start using PC with new images and such. We have just released a new patch v5.6.18 with a fix for this bug. Good suggestion. We have made this change in the latest post-release beta patch v5.7.01. Download link: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5538Or at least leave TD visible in Off just like the other way around
