E-commerce and video games issues

Post by banta »

Hi all,

First I'd like to mention that I love your games. I played the first capitalism when i was much younger on my 486 pc.
I decided to reconnect abit with the game, and I purchased capitalism lab with all the DLCs.

So i started a custom game with the following idea: I wanted to produce video games and sell them through E-commerce platform.

So first i got the thumb candy Mod (kudos to the creator!), and went on to create my company called Black Isle Studios (so many fond memories).
I also created my e-commerce business called Steam (wink).
After 10 years of software development i finally put out 3 RPGs and told my factory to produce them.
I enabled E-commerce so I could sell them through Steam.

So here's the first issue: after a year though no sales at all??? I must precise I made my game console for my games, that I sell successfully in E-commerce.
I checked the city PC internet users, and there were well over 200k.
After all they were buying games from my competitors and not my games???

The second issue: noticing it's not working, I switched my factories that produce games to deliver my computer stores.
After 1 year, I noticed my video games sales were NOT selling, zero quantity sold in my computer store!! why??

Finally a suggestion: I know its possible to tell a software company to sell directly their software through E-commerce. But why its not possible with video games?
I have many software companies producing games, yet theres no option to sell them through e-commerce.

A note about video games ip and thumb candy mod, when I developed my ip I could choose a group of consoles, and couldn't pick an individual console in that group. Also I didn't get open source option.
In summary it would be great to have improvements for that industry.

Thank you for your help,
A capitalism fan.

We will investigate the problem.

I loaded your game and noticed that the user base of Playstation OS is zero. I would suggest that you release your games on the other OS (Famicom OS) and see if your games will sell on that platform.

Another thing I noticed is that you didn't check the box [ ] E-Commerce at the E-commerce bar at the bottom of the software company. It is necessary to check the box in order for e-commerce sales to occur.

Hi David,

I didn't notice that software companies have e-commerce option.
is this coming from a patch?
and how do you increase the base users for your console?

It's in the current version already. At the bottom-left corner of the firm detail information window, you will see it.

ok thank you.
How do i raise the user base of my OS? I put maximum budget for marketing on my E-commerce.
It is really illogical that your console sells, but your OS has 0 user base and noone buy your games.

also i cant seem to find a way to have versions for game console firmware like for software OS, while the competitors have like version 40 already...

I saw that no factories are producing video game consoles using the PlayStation OS in the game, thus there is no user base.

You may refer to your competitor's Famicom video game consoles that uses the Famicom OS, for how the production chain works.

Please check out this article: https://www.capitalismlab.com/digital-a ... -game-mod/

I would also recommend that you refer to your competitor's Famicom video game consoles that uses the Famicom OS, for how the production chain works.
