Whenever I make a subsidiary, even if I give it a banging CEO, billions in cash, and permission to do anything, all they do is make 1 R&D center at the start of the game and then go idle. They don't even seem to R&D anything.
How do I make them do anything?
My subsidiaries do nothing except make 1 R&D center

Hi Duck,
I have had that issue in the past what industry is your sub. the most recent games i've played with the latest update's i've not seen it but I usually end up with computers plus i've been testing and messing with specifics and cheats to help find out some things.
Are you using any mods or DlC's and are you using custom and scipts. Maybe post a save game and some brief info around the companies involved?

try to make them focus on one thing, instead of expand in everything.
For example uncheck everything and keep only telecom or software.
Sometimes it's because the market is saturated and the entry barrier is too high or because you don't have enough cash aswell - I've realised this happens also when you start buying out all companies and merge them all into one huge conglomerate which controls 99% of everything.
Most AI companies started will just be R&D and sell tech.
