Do you agree that the multi-product factories are suboptimal in most situations except in the early game when money is tight and the AI wants to create many product options for Mega,Dept and supermarket store sales?
After an AI corporation has been in operation for a few years, should the AI stop using pre-defined layout plans with multiple products in factories and solely use wild-card layout plans with settings of only one product per factory?
Should this apply to games with and without City Economic Simulation DLC? In City Economic Simulation DLC, cities have lower initial populations and may justify having multiple products in factories more.

Re: Layout plans used by AI corporations
I voted yes here, but I'm not sure yet tbh.
I think the bigger issue is that the AI builds these multiple times - especially also in farms. So he will favour producing say meat of some kind alongside another product (eg feathers), but he will build 24 medium farms with these combos instead of one large one for each separately. Broadly speaking at least 20 of those combo farms will be unprofitable. That said, I do feel that the process itself is efficient for the AI if he only needs a small amount of that good. So what would actually help is if the AI understood that if he needs a lot of the good then he is better off combining that into one farm/factory.
Potential downside here is that with less multi factories the AI may start to clutter excessively, assuming that he now has 2 factories/farms where before he had one.

I would say the multi-product factory layouts are less than suboptimal. There are inferior which is why I don't use them.

Re: Layout plans used by AI corporations
Update: This suggestion has been implemented in the upcoming version 6.6.00.
After an AI corporation has been in operation for a few years, the AI will stop using pre-defined layout plans with multiple products in factories and solely use wild-card layout plans with settings of only one product per factory.
The AI will function this way regardless of whether the City Economic Simulation DLC is enabled or not.
