Importing Sugar and other items

Post by alpha117 »

I've add an import company, but cannot import sugar, even though there is the import icon with sugar which says you can import sugar via an import company. I've tried to import Cork and that worked Ok. What have i missed..thanks

Also, how do you import, in this example 'timber' and also "milk' does not allow import.

What have I missed?

Please let me know which version of Capitalism Lab you are using.

I tested the latest version 8.0.12 (download link: https://www.capitalism2.com/forum/viewt ... f=7&t=8723) and it does not have this issue.

I've been updating via the 'patches'. I've just installed the full installer from the link above and quick test seems fine apart from 'Barley'' which does not import.

Might be worth testing to make sure that all crops can be imported when they have the import icon.

I'll test more shortly and I'll you a list that do not import when the item has the import icon

Confirmed fixed in 13.....many thanks

Just a quick question.!
In the import company there is function that states the 'cost' of the import There is just the sale price.
How do I know what the most cost effective route is? Is it via importing or from sources that item locally?

Many thanks

Further investigation into importing of 'raw' materials:

1. These are available before the game starts
2. Start the game(move forward 1 day) and there are NO raw materials available for import

Therefore you cannot produce an end product that 'could' be cheaper to produce by 'you importing the raw materials(it might not be the case though(randomization built in)) and selling them for a high GP.

There is a lot that could be simulated just by utilizing the 'new' import company and adding more real world functionality. I hope this could/will be explored going forward

A real world example:
A Steelworks that produces iron and steel, will use locally sourced coal(within its own country) BUt will supplement that product by 'importing cheaper coal from other countries; therefore supporting the local economy and also keeping the costs down with using cheaper coal, which impacts the final cost of the 'steel' to the end customer. (high quality but at a lower cost)

Any questions then ask away

Thanks

Sorry to be A pain BUT!
Cost +freight = total cost
therefore in this example 0.35 +0.11 = 0.46
But total shows 0.47
