What autopatch?

Maybe I'm just a little thick, however I read on the forum that the game will auto patch after it has been played a few times. I've played it maybe ten times and it still hasn't taken me past 1.971 (the version that amazon downloaded to me). I can't find the patches manually and want to play a challenge match if I can. Any help is appreciated.

I don't know about the auto patch as my CapLab has never auto patched I just download the new version when ever David makes a post about it. Here is the latest post:

We released make 1.980 as a manual patch initially as we wanted to make sure that it is stable before setting it as an auto patch and apply it to all users.

Now that a number of users have downloaded and applied 1.980 manually and we didn't hear any major bug report. So we have just set it to auto patch.
