Is the subsidiary AI supposed to go into semi products that are unrelated to its approved scope of production?
I have a sub that is solely focused on Beverages. It started to then manufacture CPUs at a huge loss. I see other competitors AI also going into the market but not all are selling huge amounts. Also, some AI are generalists but I would think some are specialized into snacks and other categories that do not involved CPUs but they still go into it and create factories that have zero volume. They they offered them for sale.

I can't block semi products in the Scope of Production. I would think that if I direct a sub to focus on a category, and they wish to vertically integrate, then they should produce semi products, farms, mines, that are relevant to the category if the business opportunity is there to increase profit.
Is my beverage sub producing CPU is a bug?

I can't load the game myself, I keep getting an error. It could be a case of file corruption, maybe try uploading it again (not sure if anyone else has got the same error, it could just be me).

I've forwarded your save game to the dev team for investigation.
(I was able to load your savegame with post-release beta version 10.0.16.)
Their response:
Do you have a savegame prior the AI building CPU factories? It will help the investigation if you could provide such a game because in the current save game, the CPU factories were already built and it is not possible to trace back what caused the AI to build them.
Did anyone else encounter the same issue?
I ran some test games but didn't experience the issue.

i havent noticed it but will keep an eye out.
maybe semi products should be split up into sub categories since its a pretty big one
Electronics, Food etc so you can at least limit companies on some lines.

Re: Subsidiary goes into unrelated Semi Products Bug?
I have earlier files, hopefully these would help. Yes, I'm playing in 10.0.16. From what I was able to see:
my file 003.zip: Date=Nov 2008, there were 22 CPU Factories. Most competitors have volume in their factories, except for Loope Inc. (Footware, Diversified, no tech products sold) and Escalade (Apparel, Diversified, no tech products sold). These two have a total of 5 factories is Marseille and all have zero volume. There are no CPU factories for sale in any city.

my file 004.zip: 3 hours of real time later. Tech boom, date is now July 2023. There are now 86 total CPU factories, 10 of which are for sale, all of these have zero volume and zero utilization. Many other companies also have CPU factories with zero volume but they are not for sale. Many CEO's getting into the CPU bandwagon without a strategy to actually sell them or use them to vertically integrate.

Hopefully this helps out figure out the issue. In these saves, I still did not own Mankind and it wasn't doing so well financially. Eventually, I buy enough shares and direct it to focus on Beverages. I believe that once I helped it and provided enough capital, it decided to expand and it went into CPUs.

Thanks for the save game.
I loaded your save game 004, acquired Mankind in 2023 and ran the game up to 2026. But the issue didn't occur. Attached is a screenshot of the game in 2026, FYI.
On a positive note, the dev team has been working on improving the AI for the next major version 10.1 and this aspect of the AI may benefit from the improvements.

Re: Subsidiary goes into unrelated Semi Products Bug?
Ok, thanks for looking into it. Glad to hear there is an upcoming update to the AI.
Those non-tech AI are seeing the large market opportunity for CPUs and going into it is a legitimate strategy then? I may have to switch my strategy and follow a similar strategy.
Any leads on why Loope Inc. and Escalade decided to go into CPUs at a loss? Seems they are not removing low quality products even though a higher tech has been adquired and is being produced, so the selling units get blocked.
I'll look forward to 10.1 and give it another go.
