Magitek is now available for automatic download in the latest version (v10.0.40).
For the past couple of months I have been in the process of making a Capitalism Lab mod and I have decided to publish it for the first time.
It is still a work in progress as there are still some things I want to add but I think this is more or less ready for the community to take a look at.
This mod, embodies elements of Fantasy, Science Fiction and Alternate History and adds a large variety of new products and services themed around traditional fantasy magic and its combination with modern industrial technology, as well as simulating the economic disruption created by the permeation of magic into everyday life.
Backstory:
In the late 20th century a portal from the pre-industrial magical world of Denlightia had been opened by a council of mercantile wizards seeking more trade and commercial partners. They brought with them powerful magical spell books and artefacts, potions and a bestiary of mythical creatures such as Dragons and Unicorns. New possibilities arise as the might of a world of magic and a world of modern industry and science combine forces to create products and services the likes of which neither world has ever seen! Vast profits await those who can seize the opportunity first!
This mod features:
- Over 200 new, mostly magic themed products that include traditional fantasy magic (such as Wands and Potions) as well as magic combined with modern technology.
- Every product category in the game has new products as the power of magic permeates everyday life.
- Massive new supply chain of enchanted and magical semi-products giving the player the dilemma of staying with traditional products or forging ahead with more complex, R&D intensive magic products that will render their old, non-magic counterparts obsolete.
- Three new store types: The Apothecary, Denlightian Restaurant and the Wand Shop to give your customers new places to get their new magical goodies.
- A variety of game rule changes and re-balancing of some base game products and services.
- A backstory and a full description of every new game product in the Magitek.odt file contained in this mod along with all of the rule changes. I have also included some additional comments on the gameplay in there.

Mod was created in the Public Release of version 10.0.x
Note that this mod was also made with all of the DLCs, however it can be played with only the base game if you want. I recommend playing with all of the DLCs as I have added products for services and the Digital Age DLC.
This mod also contains a PLO file which allows you to create predetermined farm layouts without having to set up the individual units yourself (this is something a lot of mods don't have, which makes it tedious to setup the layouts for the first time. I have set them up in advance for you so you don't have to worry about it).

- ChatGPT, who offered many suggestions for magical products and concepts.
- Craiyon, for generating most of the new images you will see in the game. Craiyon is free and does not require you to sign up, so give it a try if you want to generate AI images for your own mod.
- Microsoft Copilot (this requires you to sign up but it makes better images).
- David Lee the Community and Marketing Manager at Enlight and the people behind Enlight Software for the making of this great game and helping me with some of my modding questions and problems.

Changelog
Version 1.01
- Magic Toy Soldiers no longer require R&D and can be imported. The popularity and price of this product has been reduced slightly as well to balance it out.
- Children’s Spellbook is now in the Wands and Spellbooks category.
- All spellbooks have had their prices reduced so it isn’t as easy to profit from them plus a few other tweaks.
- Added a new item: Magic Board Game.
- Reduced Freight Costs of Adamantium and Etherium
- Significantly reduced the price of Natural Resource sites. Note that the quantity is much smaller now so you will get more frequent exhaustion of sites. Use Unlimited Natural Resources if this is a problem.
- Added new corporate logos for all of the new company names. Plus a few minor name changes.
- Added more companies to the Global Stock Market.
- Fixed some issues with the documentation of this mod.
Version 1.02
- Added custom interior store images for the Potion and Wand shops. Requires Capitalism Lab to be Version 10.0.35 or higher in order to support this.
- Added extra interior images for the Wand and Potion Shops.
- The Frozen Unicorn and Unicorn Burger prices have been decreased slightly. Demand has been raised slightly as well.
- Hot Dog demand has been decreased and the price increased. This will slightly decrease the profitability of hotdogs as I thought it was too high.
- All pizzas have had their demand lowered as I believe that they are a bit too profitable compared to other service items.
- Added new food item: Coconut Cooking Oil to allow another outlet for the Coconut Oil semi product.
- Added new Fast Food item: Milkshake.
- Added new Pizza Item: Margherita Pizza.
- Flour Factories now produce at 200% to make up for the new products that demand high amounts of Flour.
- Mod is now compatible with Service Firms being switched off or unavailable. Service products will be converted to retail products and produced in factories instead.
- Added a new building called the Denlightian Restaurant. It has had the following new products added to it:
1) Unicorn Pie
2) Dessert Platter
3) Mystic Chicken Soup
4) Mashed Potatoes
5) Denlightian Omelette
6) Spiced Bread Sticks
Version 1.03
- Added new Computer item: USB Flash Drive.
- Added some additional layouts to the .PLO file.
- The Magitek banner quality has been improved, with thanks to David for providing this.
- Added images for new in-game persons, dressed in Wizard/Witch attire.
- More documentation updates, including notes about the automatic downloader.
- Converted this document to a PDF instead of an .ODT file for better compatibility.
Version 1.04
- Reduced the material requirements for the table and levitating table. Increased the price of both products and reduced their demand as well. The overall profitability of both products is roughly the same as before.
- The Flavored Mana item has been adjusted so that it is now a can instead of a bottle. As a result the material requirements and price/demand have been altered to make it more in line with this. It is also more profitable as well.
- The DVD has been renamed to Optical Disk.
- Added two new Software Products: Racing Game and Mathematics Software.
- Have added the Mega Factory from the RealWorld Mod. The statistics have been changed so that it has two and a half times the cost/productivity of the large factory instead of five times.
- As a result of the Mega Factory being added the Flour and CPU/Magic CPU production rate has been reduced to 150%.
- Created better images for many of the products using Microsoft Copilot. Images have been improved for:
1) All of the new software products.
2) All Spell Books.
3) All of the Magic Brooms.
4) All of the Potions and Elixirs have had their images replaced so that they are all clearly labelled and less ambiguous.
5) The Digital and AI Wands.
6) The Unicorn Wings and the derivative products have been changed to be more visually consistent.
7) The Wand and Potion Shops now also have new, improved images that are more consistent with the game’s art style.
8) The Mana Mushroom Soup Can and Flavored Mana (which is now a can instead of a bottle) now both have much better images.
9) The Levitating Table and Gold Watch also have better images.
Version 1.11
- Removed all of the default seaport products (originally Blue, Green and Liquefied Mana), it is now no longer guaranteed that these products will always be sold at an Industrial Seaport.
- Natural Resource quantities have been increased, making the resources last longer per site. This has raised the upfront capital cost of the resources but not to a very large amount (i.e. most companies will still be able to afford them at the start).
- Increased the setup and maintenance cost for the Mega Factory.
- Added two new Furniture products, a Drawer and a Digital Crystal Ball.
- Added the Food product, Bread back to the game. It has been made slightly less profitable from the base game due to the other flour based food products that are also available.
- Added a new Apartment Building with twice as much capacity as the previous largest apartment, this has been added to reduce the amount of space being taken up by apartments due to the larger city populations in this mod.
- Have added images for the Livestock Processing and Raising Units for the Unicorns, Phoenixes and Dragons (along with their products). I have also added the Service Firm Preparation images for all of the new service items/firms.
- Have updated the following products to rebalance them thanks to the improved Mod Analysis Tool:
1) Reduced the price of the AI Wand by half as the profit level was far too high to be balanced. It is still more than twice as profitable as the Digital Wand.
2) Reduced the price of the Magic VR Helmet, the Magic Desktop Computer, Magic Notebook/Tablet and the Magic Smart Phone as these items were all too profitable.
3) Reduced the price of the Invisibility Cloak, Water Repellent Jeans, Cognition Elixir, Cure-All Elixir, Eternal Youth Elixir and Superhuman Elixir as they were all too profitable.
4) Increased the demand/necessity and tweaked the price for the following: Dragonblood Cleaner and Uni Washing Powder as they were both not profitable enough.
5) Raised the demand but also lowered the price of the Homeostasis Jacket so that it is overall less profitable.
6) Raised the price of the Beauty Potion as it was not profitable enough.
7) Raised the price of the burger patties slightly to make them more profitable, have also raised the price of a Hamburger to compensate for the price increase.
8) Lowered the freight costs of the following Crops/Livestock Products: Dragonscales, Dragonblood, Unicorn Horns and Unicorn Wings.
- Have improved and updated the images for the following products:
1) Instant Coffee
2) Dragonblood Detergent
3) Unicorn Washing Powder
4) Deodorant
5) Coconut Cake
6) Homeostasis Socks
7) Magic Soap
8) Donuts
9) Spiced Breadsticks
10) Water Repellent Jeans
11) Crystal Ball
12) Shape-Shifting Chair
- The following changes only work if you are using the Beta Post-Release version (at the time of the mod’s release):
1) Have added all of the Semi Product types to the Semi Product Megaclass.
2) Added brand new icons for the new Internet and Software technologies.
3) Created the very small images needed for the firm product icons.
4) Have sharply increased the price of all Mansions in the game, the cheapest mansion is now roughly 1 million in price and the most expensive is closer to 100 million, this is to ensure that the mansion type being purchased is now a better indicator of personal wealth.
Version 1.12
Added a new Advertising Internet Firm: Influencer Marketing
Added changes for the new Logistics Firm in the Service DLC, all products now have a Freight Type assigned to them. A new Freight Category has also been added: Tanker Cargo, which is used for transporting Oil and Mana (all types).
Version 1.13
- Added several custom music tracks to the game, including some of the older music tracks from Capitalism 2.
- Created a better image for the Magic Washing Machine/Dryer
Version 1.14
- Converted all music files to .mp3, also fixed a missing music file.
- Cheese, Frankfurters, Frozen French Fries and Milk have had their Freight Category changed to Refrigerated Transport.
- New freight category: Valuable Cargo. The following changes have been made to accommodate this new freight category:
1) The Dragonscale Core Wand, Dragonscale Vest and Magic Staff now use this category.
2) All Jewellery and Watches use this category except for Sports/Digital/Elegant watches.
3) Gold, Silver and Pure Etherium are now in this category.
Added the following new product: Lemonade.
Version 1.15
- Thanks to David and Enlight software all of the new products in Magitek now have speeches for being invented as well as gaining/losing market share speech alerts.
- As a side effect of the above, all products that previously had a / character in them have now been changed to have a - character instead so that their speeches will work.
- Added a new building type: Bar
- Added a new product category - Alcohol. This can be sold in Supermarkets and Bars.
- Have added two new Alcohol products: Beer and Liquor. Wine has been moved to the Alcohol category.
- Added a new potion product: Omnipotion

Theres an issue with there not being any retail buildings for some of the extra classes like the coffee, pizza and cake. Other than that, its pretty fun but I think some of the added mines are a bit too expensive especially considering how many types there are.

But I think this might actually be a bug. if Service Firms = Off then those items should not even display in the first place as they are Service Firm items.

This one is a bit trickier to resolve. I will have to make some changes in a future version of the mod. For now please ignore the service products in the manufacturing guide (or play with Service Firms = Yes).I think I know why, you need to have Service Firms = On

I have fixed the Service Firm problem now. All service firms are now correctly converted to Retail Stores if Service Firms are switched off.
I also added a new service firm: Denlightian Restaurant, along with a number of new food items to go with it. There are a few other changes I made as well which are all detailed in the change log for version 1.02.
