Am i dumb or is this bugged?

Post by whiskiz »

The car recipe number 4, for factories only goes to around 50% utilization for me

the issue isn't factory nor retail input, output, or throughput

i provided images for proof/to help

also the number 3 car recipe stays around 80% to 90%, i figured maybe because unlike recipe 4 it only has 1 car body input, so maybe it can't quite fully max out due to a material input/throughput - but after seeing this issue with recipe number 4 i'm not so sure it's that anymore

i also checked and the factories are set to that warehouse properly, with the retail stores requesting from said warehouse

firstly sale unit wont be able to serve 3 manufacturing about 2 manufacture units can be run on 1 sales unit given all at same level ... maybe set it up like this and use the 1 input with 2 supplies for the bottleneck i.e. car bodies in this case i never run into issues with this setup as long as u dont link incorrectly manufacture with manufacture eheh
input 1...................input 3............input 1
.....|............X..........|.......... X........|
manufacture........manufacture......manufacture
........|........X..........|...........X........|
.....sale................input 2..............sale

now the manufacturing unit might be confused as you try to input cars to manufacture cars the top car manufacturing unit is linked with the middle manufacturing unit that might cause the issue as you see in your bottom car manufacture unit everything is fine.

2nd as your automobile outlet got 6 sales units they gonna all idle except those fully utilized and the purchase units cant fetch enough to fill sotck due to the false setup of the factory written above. ONLY if the 1s sales unit is fully utilized, the 2nd unit starts to work then after that is 100% the 3rd unit and so on, even if your outlet could fill all purchase and sales units with cars, they ll do nothing until you have that much sales that those addidional sales units are needed. so its not very wise to have 3 purchase and 6 sales units in same outlet ... split it across 3 shops and use the other free places for other products in case you got more then cars to sell in an automobile outlet. 3 shops will get you higher market share once you got competition on same product.

1 - nice spot on the top car manufacture being linked to the middle one in the picture i provided - that's actually the games pre-defined/premade number 4 recipe with that issue (i never thought to double check the game's recipes), but after removing that link it didn't change anything anyway, so it wasn't that

2 - that recipe you nicely portrayed is exactly the pre-defined recipe number 3, the other one that i said for me only goes to like 80% to 90% and still doesn't max out, even with 2 sales squares. the other thing is though that even the 50% utilization recipe 4 still has that 1 sales square of only 60% utilization, you can see both that and it showing there isn't enough supply for the square in the image. so it can take more and doesn't seem to be at fault

3 - and i know the retail sales units aren't being fully utilized, i highlighted it to show my issue wasn't a retail throughput issue, as shown in the image both the purchase and sales are underutilized so it's not a retail side thing

so still smh at what's going on : P

and you might still think it could be the single sales square, but i've seen the utilization bar on a sales square go to almost full 90%+ when it's maxed, which isn't showing in this instance. definitely room to take on more. if the sales square is only 60% with factory output 50%, it stands to reason that if both supply and demand is adequate that both have room to grow by a half (60% to 90% sales uti and 50% to 75% factory output) no? or similar if it isn't fully 1:1

to recap: massively more demand in store than supply, but retail both input and output has plenty of room for much more supply, factory input/materials has way more supply than demand, and factory sale square is only 60% utilized - yet factory output is only 50% to 60%

P.S i also only have cars for that subsidiary so i don't need retail space for anything else, not to mention 3 floors is indeed required for majority market share in this large 4M pop city for the large cars, but yeah unlike most other things (i have 2 floor setups for compact camera and notebook computer for example)

but good to know "3 shops will get you higher market share once you got competition on same product" although i usually finish scenario's in 5 years at most each time, so competition (even own subsidiary/AI) don't get much done cause they move so slowly : P (and my squares especially slower manufacture ones don't get time to level, only mainly get levels from COO/AI expertise) but will keep in mind when finished with the scenario's!

Edit: i wasn't kidding about needing so much space for cars - onlyy 3 years in and here's an image of 2 auto stores, with 3 floors and 6 sales squares each floor (total 18 per store), with the 1 store shown all around level 7, the second all around level 4, with there still being a slight supply gap and only 50% total market share : P

35 sales square on average level 5 or 6 (with the last square being for advertising on a single floor of a single store) - big cars in big cities for big $ are no joke

https://imgur.com/a/khj2eKW

that actually also nicely shows full sales square utilization

-in your last picture your retailers purchase units have more supply then demand so the factory is supplying enough.

- factory sales unit also therefore not fully utilized, means if the factory units arent fully utilized yet they have room for more production but the sales units of the factory units cant take more unless they can sell more. if the factory output went up since the manufacture to manufacture link had been removed then this was the issue.

That third image was only to show amount of cars needing to be supplied to the city, that all those retail floors for it are actually needed (and double that even)

that was after i changed back to recipe 3 with 80 to 90% utilization factories x3, to get retail throughput working properly again to show the above

so that last/3rd image wasn't using the recipe 4 with 50% factory output issue

only the first 2 images

see the first 2 images and the "to recap" part

and as shown in the second image, you can see the retail purchase square utilization and supply is empty - while the demand bar is full

so the retail store wants alot more supply, the factory producing what they want is well supplied, it also has space for more output/sales utilization, but doesn't increase factory manufacture/output by more than around 50%

i also said removing the manufacture to manufacture link didn't change anything..

apologies for the confusion

Edit: i made new games with the recipe 4 car factory for both multiple 1 floor stores, and a multi/3 floor store and both times it went from the 50% to 60% max to now 60% to 70% max. it doesn't seem to be multi floors or anything buggy retail side. and it may seemingly get a bit worse as it levels up. it must be the single sales square, for whatever reason even though it shows only 60% utilized at all times, because apart from it being bugged i can't see it being anything else

Edited Edit: honestly if recipe 3 is the go-to that even you suggested, that requires a second sale square or for whatever other reason works alot better than the car recipe 4 - the fourth recipe may as well be removed entirely from the games premade/predefined menu (and maybe the recipe 3 manufacture to manufacture link cleaned up for posterity)
