Bigger factories cause bigger supply issues when you first set them up.

also the bigger the factory, the bigger its units incl their inventory unit, u can face 500 or more employees in a XXL factory with way over 20 employees just for an inventory unit, lotsa dead meat that wants to be paid wages for nothing, biggest factory i got pays wages for 550 employees scratching their balls, and those factories of course gonna pull hard on mines, if you do that on regular open to all mines which AI also uses for supply ... you might get plenty useless mines popping up due to your over demand you creating on setup of such factories. i dont say its not possible, but needs quite some micromanaging on setup of those XXL factories until they got the initial stock on input materials pulled, but also AIs tend to use those XXL factories which can give you serious trouble on raws supply if a few of them pop up at same time then the AIs gonna create ya a nice landscape of 8-15 of each mines/loggingcamp/oil well ... a single AI XXL factory can already result in 6 mines of 1 raw if you dont provide sufficient supply for them

Also have:

Costa Office building

Logistics

R&D

My theory (floored maybe!!!). Is these building are set to be a high price to build and rent is also higher that the standard buildings. Maybe that would make the AI think about buying these.

Also if the AI did purchase any Costa buildings then the monthly rent is paid to the player.

Do all these building fir on the 2*2 overlay or are some bigger 3*3 etc
My lack of understanding is what buildings belong to 'FIRM TYPE' in the buildings.dbf

Department store is building type?

Warehouse I assume is building type WARE?

Factory is building type FACTORY?

Depends on whether you need a bigger factory or not. It may be better to replace an existing factory's image with this (which looks amazing by the way).

But you can try looking at the statistics for the mega-factory in the REALWORLD mod, which I have attached:

But normally the reason why some of these mods have bigger factories is that many of the products have a greater demand in retail and for related and semi-products. Bigger factories have the disadvantage of having bigger inventories, higher building and maintenance costs and take up more land. In the case of your mod it is service related, so you might not really need bigger factories as all the production is taking place in the Coffee Shop.

A similar issue as well with Apartments/Commercial Buildings. I added additional buildings to Magitek when I realised that city populations were getting bigger.

By the way you can add additional building types for R&D and Logistics - the buildings are exactly the same but some visual variety is good.

I wanted to add another Buildcode for 'Costa Department Store', but could not find a way of doing that....have I missed something.

I tried:

FIRMTYPE : RETAIL
BUILDCODE: COSTA
BUILDNAME: Costa department store

UPDATE..didn't add products sold in new Costa Super-Market..all good now...phew!
