Possible internal sales bug in 1.989
Hi, all! I've been playing Cap 2 for years and am absolutely LOVING this new version. I have, however, encountered an annoyance which I'm guessing is a bug. Basically, I decided to consolidate my supply chain with a few warehouses - the idea being that I'd set my factory pricing just above cost and then control all pricing from the warehouses. I set all of my retail firms to purchase only from the warehouses, and set the factory outputs to internal sale to force my competitors to buy my product from the warehouses instead. Unfortunately, it's been years in game-time and the AI players still haven't switched over to purchasing from the warehouses. I even tried cranking the prices at the factories for a few months thinking that it might force them to switch their purchases to the (comparatively inexpensive) warehoused goods, but they consistently continue to buy straight from the factory. Anyway, I'm assuming that this is a bug, and it's definitely annoying because it defeats the purpose of my warehouse supply-chain. I can provide a save-game if necessary.

If the AI can make a profit by buying from your factory they wont switch to another source.. Thats not a bug itself just the AI being lazy
Best way to make them switch is deleting the sales units in the factory, this way you completely take away their source and they are forced to switch to another product or (preferably) to your warehouse. When they have switched put the sales units back
And a just fyi, if you dont know, there is an option in the option menu which turns the internal sales button standard on when you place a sales unit anywhere.
If this isnt helpfull, pls post the savegame

Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply! I've decided to just start a fresh game using that option you mentioned and I'll just make sure to set up my warehouse system early on to avoid this problem popping up again.

Hi. I have a same problem. But I thing that that kind of functionality is correct and realistic. When someone is buying your products you have a contract, when you decide not to work with the company any more you are braking that contract.
I'm solving this with default internal sale on (all my product are sold internally). If I decide to sell to the AI, then I build a separate werhouse (just a purchase and a sales unit) and I manually disable internal sale for that product. This also gives you an option to raise the price for product that are sold to AI. When you don't want to sell to the AI any more, you simply click "stop purchase" button on that product. AI will soon discover there is no more supply and will start selling different products.
Hope this helps.
Regards MS

Yeah, I started a new game with that option set and everything works perfectly now. I see what you mean about the idea that contracts would mean that you'd likely be stuck in a sales arrangement, but given that I only wanted them to shift their purchases to the warehouse I don't think that would matter in that sense - they're still getting the same exact product, they just have to pick it up at a different building.
Anyway, everything is working great now so that's all a moot point.
