Different/wrong brand strategy - Not allowed to change

In mine custom script i have the Fixed Brand Strategy rule and set it to Range Brand, since i ever only use that strategy.
According to the information this rule locks the setting for my (the players) company.

I noticed however in my current gamethrough that my subsidiaries got their strategy set seemingly at random on creation, but i am not allowed to change it, with a popup message telling me so.
I assume this is due to the script's rule ? But that rule should only be applied to mine (main) company, or are Subsidiaries also considered as such?
But if the latter how come 3 out of 5 are set on Unique brand and only 2 on Range Brand?

I am running version 10.0.55 with all DLC (no Survival) and Realworld mod 13.21

its under special rules ... thats game wide. if you anyway always play with range brand on main, no need to lock brand strategy. never had any AI ceo in my subs changing the brand strategy on is own

Anjali, will all due respect, but please read carefully before replying. And don't assume somebody does NOT know how the game (and scripts) work.
I've played Capitalism since the first one, i know how the games work, i've made a very specific custom script to cater my playstyle/RP style and make changes nearly every new game or add new features if i want to.
In this case I point out something that is odd, one way or the other. Your post does not add or change anything to it.

Let me fraise it differently; the rule Fixed Brand Strategy should according to the Cap Lab website be only for the player.
So why does the game block me from changing the strategy of my subsidiaries? If they are considered "owned by the player" (and there for lock the ability to change), how come 3 out of 5 got the Unique brand strategy instead of the Range brand strategy?
You see my point, either way something is not working properly.

As for replying to yours, I know its under special rules, "thats game wide" does not make sense, I’ll humour you, what do you mean?
I put the rule in the script so i do not have to think about it starting a new game or during a game through, also not accidentality changing it.
I do not care about AI changing the strategy, that is NOT the point of my post.

That's interesting. I didn't know that it also restricted the subsidiaries as well.

I suppose the program sets the AI strategy - but then is the AI allowed to change it on their own after the fact?

I think the documentation should clarify the rules here or maybe a different script item could be added - one that toggles if the rule applies to subsidiaries or not.

I have never seen or noticed an AI changing its branding strategy, i don’t think they (subsidiaries) can, but i also never paid specific attention to it.
As owner (of a subsidiary) and having the option (normally) to do so, i should be notified by the game if the AI CEO does change it.

I strongly think that the strategy was set on creation of the subsidiary and a bug in the game (rules) is occurring here.
I'll await David if he knows or otherwise please relay/ask the dev team.

never ever would i assume ppl have no clue, i try to be as respectful as possible to everyone as i expect the same. so if my post did hurt your feelings then i am really sorry but it was never my intend. i should have added few more words to it,
special rules are from my understanding over the years (yes am playing capitalism as well since the 90's and jumped on capi lab the moment i noticed it exists) is that this rule section is game wide not for a single company/ the player only. so setting a locked brand strategy would cover all companies you set up, if i am wrong here, i am happy to hear that so i know it in the future, nobody knows everything, a lot things you had to find out in the past with testing and assuming, bet you did the same as the docs havnt been explaining stuff that deeply in the past.

when i wrote about ceo changing then i meant that, i wouldnt put a locked brand strategy in a script anyway as am playing myself on range brand always and i dont change it, + if i set up a new sub, i can then give those their brand strategy on setup and thats it, and never any ceo changed it in my controlled companies so i see no need for locked brand strategy.

My apologies Anjali i interpreted your intentions wrongly.

As for the script rule this is what the information says about it:
Fixed Brand Strategy=<Corporate Brand/Range Brand/Unique Brand>

With this statement, the player corporation’s brand strategy is fixed to the specified strategy and cannot be changed.

So it states "the player corporation" not all corporations.
Now IF subsidiaries are ALSO considered by the game to be Player corporations, they SHOULD get the Range brand strategy as i stated in the script.

That's why i say something is not working properly:
1) If subsidiaries ARE player corporations, how come that 3 out of 5 got a different strategy then i stated in the script, they should all get Range brand strategy
OR:
2) If subsidiaries ARE NOT player corporations, then i SHOULD be allowed to change their strategy
OR:
3) The information and the rule are not working as stated: only the first Player's corporation is fixed to the set strategy AND the player is locked from changing any and all corporation's strategies.

My point is not if/why you should or should not use the rule, but the working of it.
Also i totaly agree with you, i too have never seen an AI CEO change the brand strategy, but thats not my point/target with the initial post.

What exactly was the bug if i may ask, me not being able to change the strategies of Subsidiaries or Subsidiaries not being set on the Rules/Script's strategy?
