Bug on currency value reset

Post by SurfaRosa777 »

On the currency value reset, which happen about every 80-90 years (I haven't exactly calculated it), the salaries of the R&D and Software Company staff escalates massively.

The salaries do decrease, but not at the same multiple as the value of money. What ends up happening is midway through the next inflation cycle the salaries are massively higher.

I have thought about this for a while, and perhaps after fixing the valuation, add a option in the gameplay that enables the staff to retire after 50 years from R&D and Software Companies. The AI would obviously need to be told to rehire, otherwise that would cause most companies to go bankrupt.

Example image attached. No mods. All DLC's except City economy.

Can you please try posting a save game of this before the currency revaluation? If you have this.

Hi

I have a save that is about 5/10 years short of the reset. I can run the game closer if you want. Let me know.
However I just need to read the post about uploading large files.

I checked with the development team, and they explained that when a currency is devalued, the actual dollar amounts remain unchanged in the system. Instead, the game adjusts the display by dividing each dollar value by the devaluation percentage before showing it on screen.

Because the underlying amounts aren’t modified during a currency devaluation, this process shouldn’t cause any financial inconsistencies.

Hi David

Thanks for update.
Share link below for the save file.

But if the underlying dollar number of the salary is not changing; and the salaries are constantly increasing due to inflation. Then that is going to cause the problem that I am seeing, being massively high salaries in the R&D and Software Company space.
The way I get around it at the moment, is to demolish the firm, and build a new one in another city with relatively low salaries for those staff.

This problem doesnt happen with subsidiary companies C-suite employees, those salaries seem to adjust correctly and then escalate with inflation correctly.

I ran through a new game to play this out. I have attached the screenshots, link to the save game and thoughts at the end.

Core - 1 Year before Reset
What I did here was to demolish the firm as it was costing too much and constructed a new firm in a city with cheaper staff. The firm is 3 years old.

Core - Reset
At reset the salary is much lower and manageable.

Parallel - 1 year before reset
This firm is 80 years old and salaries have escalated in time.

Parallel - Reset
At the reset the salary is a lot higher than average skills salary. Now I accept that there has been an increase in salaries for the loyalty of the employee, but the multiplier seems off.

Based on the table below, my expectation would be that the Parallel employee should have a salary of about 9 000 000 after reset. Which I must admit has confused me more.

Needless to say, a firm costing 4 million (and 12 firms costing 278 million) when the company is only making 2 billion revenue, does end up causing losses. And as I mentioned in a previous post, the AI cant deal with this. Which is in turn leads to bankruptcies.

Now perhaps the dev’s expectations is that the human player needs to intervene and demolish the firm and build a new one in a cheaper city. If that is the case for subsidiaries that is fine. But for full AI run companies, those companies don’t do that.

Perhaps its less of a bug and more that I would like the AI to be adjusted slightly. To be able to demolish and recreate software and R&D firms for lower costs.

Hopefully this helps.
